Has anyone ever mounted their lights on Happy Trail PD Nerfs for the 2008+ KLR650n that is shown in this picture? Have you used the ADVmonster Crash Bar Light Mount? I would really like to see the install pictures close up. Sanjoh says they will work but then in the description is says it will work with bars 30mm, 27mm, 25mm and 23mm. I don't think those bars are that big.

We have a mounting bracket that will work on the HT bars.

Send me an email sandjoh@gmail.com with the year and model of your bike and I wll send some examples of mounting.

These are what I am talking about.

I see the M15 spots sold as pairs at a very affordable price. Anyone using these? How does the light output compare with the M30, M50, M60 that you all seem to be discussing?

Looking at setting up a light bar across the nose of my sidecar....

Dimmer switch

Whilst I'm sure the quality of the lights is good, my 60s installation on my GSA resulted in melting the on/off/dimmer controller. I had to cut it out on the road and tape up the wiring. I had the dimmer Velcro attached to the front fairing. If you guys know of a better quality unit I'd appreciate the feedback. The lights survived 2000 miles in Brazil and Uruguay including some gravel roads. The wiring logic seems good etc but the switch feels very light, not sure if that implies poor quality.

Looking at your lamp specs:
M 50:
  • Spot Beam 25 degrees
  • 2.2amps @12v, 26 watts
  • 3x Cree LED XML U2
  • 2700 lumens
M 60:
  • 30 degree Beam
  • 3600 lumens
  • Cree XM-L U2 LEDs
  • 2.4 amps (28 watts) @12v

I am trying to visualize the difference in illumination between these two lamps. I am assuming the housings match and are the same size?

Perhaps your experience can shed some light on this? I'd like to have the basis for an informed decision for an imminent purchase.

Thanks

Yeah I was all excited about the model 50 until I saw the specs; 25 vs 30 deg does not, on paper, seem like it'll add much throw. Really like to see pics...

Rotary Switch

I know I saw a post in here......maybe from Sanjoh.....on putting a dab of something under the rotary piece to help keep it from turning on it's own. Does anyone remember what that "dab" was?

Believe the dimensions, the mounts will not work on the 5/8" tubing HT uses for some of their bars.

I've put some 3000 miles on my strom with these lights. They work great, a bit tighter beam than the model 30.

Hi Dave, sent you an email on the dimmer a few days back. I would certainly like to understand what happened with your dimmer and need your reply.
