Awesome ride guys! My wife and I were in those parts a few weekends ago. (See link in my signature for the RR.) Although my weekends until mid-November are now booked (coaching football), I'd love to join you on a ride like that. (And I camp too.) Please keep me in mind for next time.

Dave, it's Deja vu all over again. I think we both did our last ride reports at exactly the same time back in June. As usual, another great Idave report i've been alternating working on mine and reading yours. Despite the point and shoot camera, you're pics are great. It's the content, not the quality of the camera that counts. Your pics are surpassed only by your way with words. You capture the essence of the ride, the adventure, and the friendship perfectly. There's nothing better than going riding , and sometimes camping, with friends

BTW, any progress on a book?

Win

Seeing these pictures you were right, gathering firewood turned out to be a study in personality traits.
  • Go big or stay cold.
  • This will work and it’s good for a laugh.
  • Neat and ordered.

Looks like the perfect mix.

Is there such a thing as an "auto-subscribe" feature? I'm always late getting in on Dave's RR's.

Good stuff as usual. If you ever come up to New England here's a place for you to tag.

I gotta say, not pretty but for sheer result the brother wins. He brought the party home to the camp site fire pit - although having a pilot car might have been safer.

I'm struggling with the "changing of the guard" marching band socks Dave, I've got to tell you. Were you off to give a formal speech somewhere on colonization?

Thumb WV w/friends

Dave,

Hope I can make a ride w/you guys before the season is over. I met Mark a few w/e's ago when he came along for a day WV ride w/me -- he's a great sport and rides exceedingly well for a newbie. And met Dana/Squidly a few years ago at Valley Motorsports. G/f and I were tearing up the same territory as you to include New River Gorge, Babcock State Park and Snowshow Mtn same w/e while you were out. I'm envious of your ability to document your adventures in such a precise yet carefree way -- fun to read. I feel I should be contributing to the pages for mine have been equally adventurous. Seemingly I don't have the discipline to take the necessary pauses between the twists of the wrist or I'm too exhausted from the spirited riding to do so.

I've a wide open schedule for riding the 15th - 22 if anyone is interested or has some ride ideas.

Great report guys! I love the descriptions and was laughing out loud in an empty room at the firewood gathering errr...ummm..."episode".

I am headed up to WV (from Asheville, NC) next week to meet a riding buddy from Toledo, OH. We are wanting to do both street and dirt. Does anyone happen to remember that "gem" of a road that was right off of 33, or the names/numbers of the "gravel strewn nirvana"?

I have never ridden in WV before so any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Please PM me so I don't clog up this thread.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, this was a great kickback-n-relax ride and I'm glad Dave wrote it up, he's a way with words that I don't, reading this so far has been a real treat!

And,,,, he brought his camera

I'd been itchin to camp for a while but don't like the heat we've had this summer. Also had other things happening, new job, challenges with the kids, 2 cars died within a month, just a little more crap than usual so last week when Dave asked me what I was doing, I had to ride. The weatherman made it an overnighter, thank you!!!
