According to the chap in the cafe at Hill End people having been sneakling around the rock. I went down the hill (from Hill End - is that the hills end? ) and found the river looked not quite crossable - making the size of the rock a bit moot from my pov. Might get through in a couple of days.

Rock not gone, road is still officially closed but is traversable by bike.

Single wheel track to get past rock, not dangerous/difficult (in my opinion).

Concrete bottomed causeway is flowing at 400mm after no rain in previous 24hr period, suffice to say, I didn't attempt on bike by myself.

Watched a local ford river in 4wd ute, he said the highest he would attempt it is at 600mm .

Saw the "high tide" debris and it was scary to say the least.

I would allow for at least 48hrs rain free before attempting to cross.

Cheers.

Well , no chance of getting the outfit through to get to the sidecar rally in two weeks time. Maybe they will have it moved by then. May have to go the "long way around"

If I remember correctly, Doc said that the sidecar rally site is on the Macquarie river, before Monahans Bluff...

there is another thread going at the moment about the same thing;

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=616319&highlight=sidecar+rally

so according to this, IF you are going to the rally via Bathurst and Eglington, then the reserve where the rally site is held, is before you get to the rockslide.

Of course, if you are planning a run up to the pub at Hill End from the reseve with the sidecar, that will require taking the "long way 'round via Turondale.

This might sound really odd to you southern guy's but I really, really, really, want to ride the Bridle track. Like more than I want to do the cape. IMHO it's up there with in the iconic Aussie tracks, and looks as cool as shit.
