Thanks for the confirmation. Wasn't me at 5. I slept in to give the Forest Office a chance to open in Brendan Byrne. The lady at the desk didn't recognize the sign, but she called her supervisor, who knew right where it was. Sort of like asking a soccer mom!

You will notice the area before you ever see the sign, the trees are just different. It’s a sudden start and a sudden stop, a special pine tree plantation. The pines are very tall and as straight as a rail. The area was obviously once cleared flat (or burned) and re-forested. The “DAR” stands for Daughters of American Revolution… the Penny Pines (from what I’ve found) is a special reforestation program. Basically it’s a penny per seed to reforest an area, but that was back in the 40’s when it started. I didn’t have much luck finding the NJ chapters, so I can only assume it’s the same as every other states.

There was a huge fire that wiped out quite a bit of the pines in the early 60’s, maybe this is from after that ??

Didn't look familiar to me. Had to ask the nice lady at the Forest Office. Was a beautiful ride this morning in the cool, 70 degree shaded dirt roads in the area. Glad you allow re-tags. Hard for a Shoobie to know what you folks have already tagged.

New tag is also on a nice dirt road in the shade....

Thanks Dirtmongrel for the OK. I looked at most of the tags about a year or so ago when I started trying a few
piney tags with the harley, I have not looked since that 1st time, I was thinking I had something good.

but as 93-610 stated on his tag:

Seems like a cool tag to me. A little further than I wanna beat up my knobbies with though.

In searching, I saw these two homes, near tag. How fricken cool would it be to live back there, in what seem to be pretty nice homes. I hate having people near me and would love a place like these.

Doug, This is very easy on a street bike or you could make it almost all dirt untill the corner of 539 and 72 that would leave you less than 2 miles for the grab.

Was actually going to use that pond, or the one closer to 72, but the "Private" and "No trespassing" signs put me off.

Sorry about the shoobie re-tag, but it is a little different. There is green grass on the ground, and leaves on the trees.

And my porch shot is decent. Mounted head and beer signs add some "flavor".

Again, the re-tag allowance is a good one without a list to check. Gets you out for a ride on a dirt road, and moves the game along....

I got a route planned out, that should be pretty easy on the knobs. I might head down there tonight or save it for the weekend. We'll see what the weather is and my beer intake at dinner.
