I've ridden them a couple times and both times I thought it was an absolutely delicious motorcycle.

Still my dream bike after 5 years from launch of the K1200S.
Won't get one until they bring in autobahn style speed limits in Australia - which is never. I've lost my license once already (from an accumulation of 10-15kph over speed tickets) and with the points going higher (if you get caught doing 25-30kph higher twice in a year, they take your license away for 12 months), I can't risk it... Have ridden plenty of them, I always ask for the K when I put my GS, now RT in for a service. Once had it for three whole days (long weekend) and had a blast....only one ticket..... When we move/holiday in Europe I'm getting one for sure...

One of these days I'll make an update about the HP2 Sport (once I get it back from the shop with its new ceramic slipper clutch).

Which bike did you get rid of to get the sport? I know you were trying to sell the RC8 if I recall

Other than the track bike, how do you decide which bike to ride? Awesome collection. |

I ride the K1300S 99% of the time, the other bikes are just for track days and occasional local rides, and for me to be happy when I get up in the morning. I rarely hit the canyons these days - I did a lot of that years ago, but now I find it boring and terrifying at the same time. The more you ride the track, the more scared you become of the crazy people in the canyons. To answer the other questions: I have since sold the RC8 (it is now a friend's track bike, so she is not too far from me) and also the SuperDuke R (also to a local guy from another forum). I have since bought an HP2 Sport, which is easily the craziest, strangest bike I've ever owned. Not much experience riding it yet, since it immediately developed an oil leak and the gorgeous dash died; both issues have been addressed under warranty. At the same time I had the dealer install a ceramic slipper clutch (boy does that bike need it). I look forward to riding the bike once it's finally all ready. My intention was to get an RC8R as soon as possible, but changes to KTM's dealer policy meant that my favorite dealer, the one I bought 3 KTMs from in 2008, is no longer selling street bikes. My options in dealerships are not acceptable to me, and I am not about to buy a $24K KTM bike from a dealership I don't trust. I had too much experience with the orange bikes to do that. I think I'll stick to my BMWs for now, and maybe get a HyperMotard 1100 EVO or the new Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 (if they bring it to the US) this winter.

I'd love to add a K1300S and a SD or Hypermotard to the stable, but my wife is only just getting used to me having two BMWs and business is tough at the moment... Oh and bikes down under here cost twice as much what you Yanks pay for them. But still, owning five premium bikes still costs a bit - what the hell do you do for a living, if you dont mind me asking? As for using the K1300S daily, yeah, I could do that too - but we have a small law enforcement problem down here. Read: anything over 4km an hour (no not kidding) and the fines and points hit you extremely hard. (like $150-$300 for up to 10kph (thats 6mph) over the limit). I love the cruise control on my RT for this very reason....

Does anyone rebuild the ESA shocks, or is that service likely to become available in the future?
