I finally had a chance to put a few miles on my new K1300S - put 1100 miles on her over 2 days when I traveled to the MotoGP last month. I'm happy enough with how the bike handles for long mileage days that I've decided to sell my R1200GS. The GS goes up for sale this week.

Read this thread front to back.... you folks are killin' me.

Sold my '93 BMW K1100RS last spring to buy a new Concours. Mistake.

UJM with absolutely No soul. Doesn't say anything to me.

But it is flippin' FAST. And if I need to stick with the Connie- it is a good ride

However, as the guy said to Dirty Harry "I gots to know"

SWMBO will flip if I come home with a new ride. But I got to at least test ride a K1300S.........the details will follow.............

Take care - Wolfhound
...good idea. I agree a zx-14 w/ abs would be a tough competitor.

I can only think that they did not import the ZX14 ABS as it would be seen as 'overlap' with the Concours 14. But other markets, like Europe, have both - so I guess I still don't understand!

K1200r

I bought a tricked out K1200R from a fellow inmate three weeks ago and just returned from a 800 mile ride in the Ozark mountains in Arkansas. Fantastic ride with a tank bag and a tail bag. Comfy for a 62 year old, fast and corners like crazy. These bikes did not sell well in America but can be found.

Mine is solid black with carbon fiber. Had 5,000 miles on it and now has 6,400. Paid $7,900. Best deal on a bike I have ever found. I will keep this one for a long time.

K1200r

Beautiful bike. The inmate that sold me his put mucho carbon fiber and a corbin seat on it. I owned a K1200S and like this bike much better. It's funky looking and maybe that's why it didn't sell well in the U.S.

Some complain about the long wheel base but the only time I found it to be difficult was on down hill 20mph and under curves. Just takes a little more effort to turn. Was in a motel outside Eureka Springs, Arkansas Friday night and my buddy and I were the only non-Harley riders there. My K1200R became the center of attention with the Harley guys. Never thought I'd see that.

Truth, though. Mine gets a ton of attention, It's like the outsider, outsider's bike. But there's another group that likes this machine: girls. The cosmetically perfect all-fairing bikes (which they call Hondas no matter the make) smack of guys who are really worried about... stuff. Anyone who drives a K1200R (or K1300R) clearly does not give a shit about looking sexy. Which is, of course, sexy.

I think they look beautiful, in a muscular, manly, crazy, unique, futuristic way.

Then again, I do wear special glasses BMW sent me...

The problem that I have with my K1200s is it does everything too well, and I can't find any reason for another new bike.

Taking about female's attenuation, my R100RT gets more attention than the k1200s.
