Stats
Overall kms for trip Nelson to Nelson 2510kms max speed 142kmh (Nutso) moving time 38.15hrs

So if i take off 3 hrs travelling to the ferry & back that is 35 hrs over 4 days which is 8.75 riding hours per day. Far out I thought we did a couple of 12 hour days in the middle of it

Hey Woodman i haven't looked at Schmidtty yet. I reckon tho cos it happens maybe every 4th revolution that it is driveshaft related - like maybe 3 bolts are undone & it holds in placer till pressure is put on from one direction....or not.

Final Drive? could be Cape to Cape 2, BMW 3.
Love your write up Craig. I think sometimes in this country we forget how blessed we are. We have some amasing places to travel and things to see. By and large we New Zealander's are a pretty darn good bunch of people.
We could poke the borax at the clown who tried to run Al down in Kawerau or focus on the good buggers we met. The guy who is storing my bike and is going to take it to the Drs for me (wouldnt let us leave without a cup of tea. Garry? he just joined in at Pureora and even took a turn on a corner then joined us for lunch, the people at the boat club who fed and welcomed a strange bunch of bikers who turned up looking filthy and hungry.
Fook me I am starting to wax philosphical, must be time for a bike ride Wheres that blue bike

Garry first joined us when he stopped to see if we needed help when we were sorting the flat tyre out. Good bloke.

NZ is a small community. Garry is a mate of GuzziTony's. I think Garry had Guzzis, but has sold them & now has a Bandit 1200 & the DR650.

Yes garry was very cool. Be good to see him joining in the adv community.

As the seppos are very fond of saying we are blessed with the riding we have over here. Plenty of bikes out n the highway this gorgeous weekend however I have spent some quality time with the family - priceless.

This is lovely

See what you started. I still have this in Vinyl. Perfect for a beautiful day here. Summertime music.

She's cool. can you believe she married Paul simon - must be a good 20yrs difference I reckon.

i had intentions of looking at Schmidtty today but Becs away in Blenheim so I had to juggle a few things. Hopefully I may have a looksie tomorrow. Christmas is just around the corner so things will get quite busy.

I still have fond memories of the Forgotten highway & Motu rd.

I suspect that those two roads sum up the best of North Island riding.

Maybe throw Waikaremoana and the 42nd in there and you’ve got my perfect NI ride

I did try to get Padmei & Aslan interested in those, but the weather Friday didn't cooperate, & by Monday they just wanted to get home...

Opotiki Rd as well. Must come & base myself up at Taumaranui & 'find' more roads. That area seems to have a no of good ones.

Did you know opotiki rd is nowhere near opotiki?

I had a great brainwave today. Since we don't have any grass at our place I took the kids down to the park in front & set up our new tent. I realised we could probably camp there over christmas & rent our house out. There is a creek with eels in it which we could drink from, trees to toilet in & a lovely view. Also an octopus to play on & a 4square over the road for ice creams.
Best of all the kids love the idea.
