While just a wee puppy of a lad, I fitted an oil pressure guage to my flash as Mk 111 Z car. Old and wise mechanic where I was learning looked at it and said "throw it away boy, it will only make you worry"
Earplugs might be the answer

You're right Woodman, earplugs relieves one of a great deal of unnecessary worry. It has been getting louder lately & was the the same noise that led me to believe the gearbox needed attention.

Maybe I should fashion up some kind of stationery bike stand with a rotating mass under the rear wheel upon which the back wheel can spin & I can stand beside it listening to locate the area the whir has come from. In fact if I did it right I could hook it up to my laptop & potentially work out the torque & HP curves & read the air/fuel mixture. Hmmm wonder why noone has thought of that before.

Another option is to run a pipe over the exhaust and out the door of your shed to eliminate exhaust noise, mind you earplugs/muffs will eliminate a lot of noise and bring out any harsh knocking noises that may be there. Thought about a stethoscope or the large screwdriver to your ear method of sourcing internal engine noises?

That would make it a tuning fork, which in fork talk is quite a demotion.

I'm 47. I don't know if that's old or young to you guys but there it is.

I feel like the world is leaving me behind some days.

I used to go to the gym in my 20s & pump up the iron ja ! Every day with the dumbbells, bench press, pull up bars & the Lat machine. I used to walk out of there pumped, hungry, fit & tired in that weight lifting way you get.

This past Sunday I had a quick look in the window of the fitness centre at the swimming pool where I took my girls to have a play.
i didn't know what I was looking at. There were treadmills there- I know what they are cos I had a go on one back in the 90s - you had to queue up for a go on it. There were fitness machines that looked like bloody pinball machines. The guys didn't seem to have any hair on their bodies.

Thank fuck I ride an airhead

While I'm on a roll...
Does no one remember the Beachcombers from Thunder bay?
The air boat off Gentle Ben was the coolest thing on TV even better than Lady Penelope's Pink Rolls Royce
Did anyone else have a massive crush on Marsha Brady, or Haley from Metal Mickey?
Does anyone remember what innuendo was & how well the Old British comedies used it.

yup - its already too late

47....you lucky lucky bastard.
Fireball XL5.
Hogans Heros
The Prisoner " I am not a number"
I liked Jeannie.

I ride to work every day rain or shine as my wifes car got stolen..... then it crashed after hitting the road spikes.....

The R90 is a delightful commuter and lanesplitter, even with panniers, the Ducati less so but it sounds better.
