Brad, looks like you had a good time and you even got a feathery friend to hold still so you could get a picture of it.
Anyone else get out for a ride yesterday since the weather forecast indicated it was going to be the last good day for riding?

Last weekend AirheadBruce was trying to convince me I need a road bike. I probably do and someday when I become wealthy I'll have another one. The nice thing is right now I haven't found one that I think I have to have. Let us know when you buy that new bike and be sure to show us pictures.

I love the V7 line, but good luck trading a KLR for one.

Last Saturday...in an effort to show mother nature who was in charge I went for a nice little ride up Canfield....
First few miles up Penn trail. Trails aren't too bad, probably better than last weekend when they were really muddy. ![]() At the point... ![]() Went up trail 8, even the steepest parts of 8 were fine with the snow. Headed down 9, to B....to 10... ![]() ...to the road. My goal was to take 1562 all the way to 1535 and head over to Burnt Cabin, and then Spades lookout.... ![]() Back the other way... ![]() I made it to 1535, but the roads, where atv's or trucks have gone packed the snow making it slick. Hard to believe but the steep, rocky, rooty trails were much easier than the roads. I ditched on the idea of going to Spades and headed for Fernan Saddle. A few hundred yards short I swapped pretty hard and hit the ground. Knocked the wind outta the ol' ribs with my knee...fun ![]() Out at the saddle I made the decision to roll down to the Canfield Fernan lot by the gun range. Lots of looks from peopel driving up to the saddle. "This guys is crazy" etc.... ![]() Up trail 10.. ![]() Passed a few hikers who gave me a dirty look. Took a quick break... ![]() ![]() Rode all across A, back to the front side....up to the heli pad.... Finished my day out with a view of suburbia. ![]() All told it was only about 28 miles, but boy was it fun...went down twice...both in really flat spots. Moral of the story when riding in snow and ice...stick to the steep and rocky stuff.

At least you are having fun. And I see with the ADV written in the snow boys are easily entertained.

Nice ride report KR. Now that I have moved back down to Boise, I am looking forward to a winter of a little less ice for riding. However, a buddy of mine and I did ride some snowy icy stuff Saturday south of Murphy, ID. We bagged the ice and headed over to the nice sandy desert. I agree with you about the steep rocky stuff. I feel so much more at home on that than the two track ice tracks. We discovered even on the rocky stuff we had to stay off our previous tracks as they got slick too.

Have fun riding in the Boise area. There are some good guys down there. If you're not already associated with it check out IAMC and be sure to watch out for that IdahoSam dude.
Sorry you left our area. I guess that's one of those things where our loss is their gain. Enjoy!
