am in the process of reviewing the thread and reading replies - the colours of autumn are, as you say, incredible and, try as I might, the camera just can't do them justice. They were most pronouced on my ride north from NYC to the Canadian Border at Kingston (ish) and I reckon the're just gonna be even more amazing in 2 or 3 weeks time.

Day 34 - Monday the 27th. Well, 5 hours of waiting, patience, paperwork and emails I walked away from Swissport having handed my bike in and, whilst I was expecting relief the overwhelming emotion was sadness. Walking away from the Goose that has been my most constant companion over the last month, that has been with me through thick and thin, rain and snow, leaving behind my reason for being...well, I was bloody sad. Still am to be honest. It may sound melodramatic but I was almost tearful.

Anyway, from there I had a beer at the hotel, got the free shuttle to terminal 1, changed my ticket to today (at a cost of $150ish) and am now in the bar again waiting for my flight to board. I won't see my baby for another 8 days.

Todays piece of wisdom is - if shipping to Toronto through Swissport use the Comfort Inn on Airport Road as a base of operations (you need to book a hotel anyway). It's a 5 min slow walk and runs a free airport shuttle.

Sad to see it end as well.

In all the years I've been using this site, yours is only the second complete thread I've followed. Great read and I hope home finds you safe and sound. Cheers!

Gentlemen

I was lucky to have a beer with the catweasler67 at the Comfort inn yesterday. It was a very nice meeting. When I came back to the hotel today, I was looking for you in the bar but you were gone. I am sitting in the bar with my lap top having a beer and reading your report. I am glad to see you made it well with your bike and you found a flight back home. You ride report will only be complete after you and goose will be back home and you will have annonce what is your next destination.
You gave me one more reason to get ready to write my own ride report.
Hope you the best and keep in touch. If your back come my way in Quebec and I will be more than happy to host you or any one comming by Drummondville Qc.

My beer is almost done so cheers to our meeting.

Epilogue

Added a few pictures :)

Got back, and got her back, safe and sound only to be made redundant the very next working day...ces't la vie.

I'll remember this trip for the rest of my life and, if I strive to top it for the remainder of my years, I'll count my life as well lived. I also wanted to say thanks to all of you for your support and advice - from start to finish it's been a real eye opener - thank you.

I also look forward to reading your reports, and seeing your eye candy - be they long, be they short - bring them on.

I'm off now to get the Goose back from the shop - she was having new boots fitted - they were a tad confused by my request as she'd had new boots at the end of August and I had to explain, in very very bad German, they were already bald :)

The end
