Yeah, plus those tanks look fairly small, and it doesn't look like my Akras would fit that gap. Not sure the bag mounts would fit either.

I much prefer Pete's design.

Hang onto those racks 1stiski - they will fit over the tanks with a couple of small mods. Gobis wont fit but they will be great crash bars/soft luggage mounts.

Nothing to report since the last post, the real job has taken all of my time. Funny how it does that. The tank is just sitting there in the garage doing nothing but looking at me.

How many sets are you making? 15 or 20 sets should be about right.

Pete

That's not looking. That's mocking.

Not mocking - more like waiting patiently for some finishing touches.

I'll be making enough for everyone who wants them - not sure how many that will end up being but I know I need one test mule for my month ride through the Kimberly May/June this year.
Still plenty of time to go....

Pete

Done yet?

Hi Pete,

are you done yet?

This bike has been in existence for over 8 years, and we have yet to see an affordable iteration of the rallye silhouette that started it all..
come on, show some commiseration

Progress: Well the tank plug is finished and is into high build/paint today. Im so sick of sanding and being dusty. From here its making the mould, so I'll be sticky and smelly. I spent a fair amount of time rebating the filler flange so that its flush. It just looks neater and more finished. Ive ordered the hardware for tank #1 to see how it will work.
Given the shape of the tank the mould will be a multi part unit. This allows the parts to be removed without excessive forcing or deformation as well as vacuum processing.
So given my previous posts and time frames I'll refrain from any crystal ball gazing and hopefully I'll have a mould some time later this month. Work (full time) should be a bit slower as the temperature lowers here in WA and hopefully this will give me more time on the tanks.
A couple of updated pics here - (its in grey primer/filler and guide coated);
