Yep - its Kununurra or bust (hope its not the latter). Unfortunately the tanks aren't on the bike (yet) so the safari fronts have gone on for this trip. Pity events didnt conspire to let me finish it as it would have been a great R&D ride.
If there is a beer to be had then count me in - I hear the country club has improved since Ive been there last (about 12 years ago). Prolly there about he 30th give or take.
AS for the subframe - well that can always be twisted back into shape without too many problems. KTM got it right with the front /rear tank set up me thinks, it has to provide better balance than having all the weight up forward. Clever Austrians.....

I would realy like to have a look at the tanks, and catch with a beer or three.

I've always wanted a set of rear tanks for my bike but my sub frame has been modified ( bent and twisted)

Well the plug is finished (part that gets moulded). So now its onto the moulding which will take a bit due to the complexity. I expect to have a finished part for my next trip in October - and before anyone reminds me of how long its taken so far, im gona take just a little longer. Plug looks great atm.

Pete, you've gotta come back to Victoria, it's insane over there in WA (nice country, just mind the massive holes in the ground). I'm sure we could find some small fabricators to do the small stuff here in G-troit or Melbourne (or Carboor) that aren't totally pre-occupied by the mining industry so we can get all your LC8 Porn off the ground

Cheers,

Cool2 Rear tanks

hi Pete - Just to let you know I am also monitoring the development of your rallye tank's. I have a much modified 2004 950s (owned from new) with pukka rallye headlights (both working DID , like night sun!) and works style fairing which I made, so know how much effort this project takes. You have a really nice concept. Will you have an option for twin rear fillers as the rallye bikes (I always fill my bike on the centre stand to get more fuel in on long trips. Recently completed a 600 mile day coming back from Spain to the U.K. - your right about the bikes abilities/comfort. I love them (you know what I mean). Interestingly I have a very similar set up to you; GPR exhaust. Will the mount for that have to be modified on the footrest hanger? Put me on your list as a contender and best of luck with your ride -enjoy!
