You offering me a bike to ride?
My rally budget is a little negative at the moment. 2012 wont be the year to return unless I come into some serious cash. But in all seriousness I think a 950 adventure with a bit of lightening and a good suspension would do just fine in the safari

Hey Pete, do you have any pics of the mods done to the luggage racks so that they work with the tanks?
I'm guessing that the mount that bolts through the old side cover will have to be removed and the others will stay the same.

KTM luggage racks
Ill throw the racks on and shoot a couple of pics later today.
Its a little more involved than that - but not much. I removed the front mounts that attach behind the pillion pegs as well as the forward luggage plate mounts leaving the rear mounts and the brace thats behind the rego plate. Then I did a L to R swap of the parts. A bit of cutting and welding and there you go. (Pics will tell the story better).. standby... Gobis still fit but I'll never use the fat heavy bastages again......

Before I create something half assed......whens the matching rear fender coming out? Ya know, with the twin lights on the back, fits to the tank, nice and rally sleek looking but still let's you use a rear rack

Thanks mate
I could modify the KTM racks that I have but I don't use the Gobi boxes anymore so......... I'm thinking about starting from scratch. Make a new set that follow the shape of the tanks neatly to give them protection in a fall as well as keeping soft bags off them. I made a set of racks from 8 and 10mm solid bar for my old Tenere, a bit heavy but super strong. The 990 has much better and more mounting points so it should be pretty easy.

It's gonna be a great xmas present under the tree for me this year, as always it'll be from the dog. Every year the dog gets me the perfect gift, drives the wife nuts

Pics of my modified KTM racks here; https://picasaweb.google.com/KTMPETE/October252011 Since theyre just holding the steel ponys off the tanks/exhaust maybe you could go ally or CrMo. Very rigid and very light...
