A most enjoyable read!
Thank you, Geoff! I appreciate your appreciation

Day 21 continued...

Okay, where were we? Oh yeah, on the way to Breckenridge, Colorado.
It was still dark and rainy.
This next section is all about roads.
I mean, even more than usual.

I love a curvy dirt road...

Those are some ominous looking clouds!

Day 21 continued...

We were constantly racing the rain today.

Norm tried to send us down here.

Um. No, thanks.

We weren’t the only ones racing around today.
These scary orange gravel trucks were everywhere - usually flying down the middle of the road...

Ran into more closed roads

So, we ended up on pavement.

Hey Dan,
Too bad you weren't there - we could have used a PUSS in Boots.

Thanks, rides2little!
I don't want to be responsible for anyone getting hurt...but, it's always a good time for a 990!

Hey ladybug

Day 21 continued...

Stopped to get gas.
I took this photo for my sister!
(yes, we are 12! )

Um. Ex squeeze me?

Uh oh. Better pretend to have a legitimate reason for these photos...
So, the 990 has been getting decent gas mileage. It’s been in the 35 mpg range, which is a lot better than the 25 mpg we got in the sierras.
(I never check that thread - hey dave6253 - thanks for the visit!)

Rode through Frisco and saw all the cute little boats in their cute little marina.

Entering Breckenridge

Another place that’s too fancy for the likes of us.
Looks like they have a lot of shopping and I’m not a shopper.

Just did a drive through.

I liked all the flowers, though.

A little something for the train nerds...

Lots of homes for big shots.

This made Matt sooo happy... Here it is - the bike that started it all...
a Yamaha Enduro 175.

At 8 years old it was BigWan’s first dual sport...
I wonder if his mom has any photos?

Holy crap, mine too. Mine was gold, cops used to pull me over all the time.

It ain't the color of the bike, it's the rider.

They're still pullin' you over.

Hey Rob,
Mine was gold also, like the one in the link. Truth be told it was my fathers bike until he taught me to ride. I don't think he had a chance to ride it after that.

Kewl!!

Mine was outfitted like that blue one with the solo seat and rack. I bought it for $40 at a yard sale, split the cases and started saving for a shift drum...I was 10. I bought a Suzuki 125 Enduro at the same time and it turned out to be a better bike..I was trying to make a riding buddy out of my step-brother, but he barely had enough coordination for walking so I rode and he sat on the back..sure was fun to run from the cops while he cried.

Reminds me of the last time I got Nixels pulled over..he got all surly and almost cried.

Poor Nixels, LB got you pulled over?

Day 21 continued...

Leaving Breckenridge, we got onto a lovely road that would have been fantastic, if it weren’t for all the damn minivans and SUVs.
“Honey, this is why we paid extra for the traction control - the Land Rover’s really in its element now!”

Matt called it the "Breckenridge Minivan Adventure Trail"

Some of the dirt was really pink. It doesn’t quite show up in this photo, but it was pretty.

I think I missed a CDT photo op - that red water tank/water tower? I don't know what it is, but I think it was around here somewhere...
Ah, whatever.

I missed the signs earlier (blocked by a Dodge Caravan, probably ), so here’s the one we passed on our way out.

You and BigWan are 2 peas in a pod! He blames his favorite TV show (favorite at the time, I mean ).

When did you get your first moving violation? Matt was 12.
I'll bet you were about the same age!
Did they send a helicopter after you, too?

Day 21 continued...

We came across this little group of colorful houses...

Back on the dirt

Sometimes it seemed like we were heading out of the clouds...

Other times, not so much....
