Hi guys!

Just to clarify - I wasn't trying to get you all to comment for no reason...
I didn't mean that. I just mean, IF you do comment - thank you.
It's nice to know that you're still out there!

I just worry about people being bored.
and sick of photos.
and tired of links.
and just, in general, OVER this report.

I try and make it interesting, I do!

But, mostly I'm sick of hearing myself talk.

hi LisaS - I wish I was 5'2"! Lucky!
PM sent (too long and wordy).

Tn. Walrus! Bad! Aren't you supposed to be resting your hamstring?
Don't re-injure that leg before it heals.
(but, matt and I both cracked up at "Make arthritis your favorite!"
Oh, it sucks to get older)

Hi Mary! Glad you found a spot you knew! hey, did you recognize the ladies room?

Hi tweetie! Hi Loud Al!

Hi craftycoder - it's hard to describe...the trail is up in the mountains above Preston, NV.
Matt's too busy with work to deal with Norm and pull the tracks.
I tried to find it with google earth and it was waste of time.
I guess you'll just have to ride the TAT!

Haha, nice try, larryboy.
I hate these freaking maps.
I already made one to show our camping spot and it was a pain in the ass.
Google doesn't like Nevada. It won't show stuff like "patterson pass."
Get close enough to show what you're looking for and there's nothing around for reference.

I have a very limited amount of patience left and maps just got kicked back to the bottom of the list.

Oh, but LB, I'm so glad you got T Cone! That was fun.
I hope we find out what happened to the rest of the cones.
Still don't know what happened to the ones from Swasey Cabin and Port Orford...

Hi Nixels!

Hi dvwalker! Hi DirtDancer! Hi Bean! Hi Andrew!

whew. Gettin' sweaty from waving so hard!

Okay, I'm working on the next post.

You can watch this while you're waiting...

I wanted to use it when we were chasing those MN guys, but it's too long...

Yay! You made your own map!
Right on - D. I. Y. !
love it.

okay, back soon with more photos and fun stuff...

I thought that I read about somebody who found a prize at Port Orford, LittleWan?

Hi mrprez! (I don't know why that sound clip is off in the middle like that)

We've never even had a mod visit...

But, I'm glad not to have a sticky. That would make me even more nervous.

I might have to clean up the language, too.

Really, larryboy? I haven't heard anything.
But I really suck at reading ride reports lately.
I try and stay off the computer when I'm not actively prepping a post.
Maybe they'll chime in when we get to Port Orford...

must. keep. writing.

moe = ride report.

Edit - looks like that video was removed. Can only find it in Spanish now.
Hmm.
Here's the audio, if yer curious... linky
And a related clip linky 2

Day 33 continued...

Okay, where were we?

We talked about camping on Patterson Pass, but once we got there it didn’t look that great.
Seemed like it might be cold, too.

It still looked dark and rainy down there.

Yikes. This could be a bad camping night.

We were headed to Chimney Rock Springs!
It was so pretty last year, I was really looking forward to camping there.

Hey little dudes!

We almost ate it around here. BigWan was standing up and we were moving...
Then, the wind stirred up a giant dust cloud and he couldn't see, just as we hit some big ruts.
He literally fell into his seat when we hit a deep one, but somehow managed to keep riding and not crash.
It was f**king close!
(I can't even see any ruts in these photos, but that's what happened...)

We wanted to go towards that blue sky...

But the tracks were taking us here...

WOXOF - oh, probably. I don't know code thingies.
Now that I've posted, it won't show me the embed code anymore.
halfway through trying to fix it, I realized it doesn't matter.

see! this is the stuff that's making me crazy!
I shouldn't care that the sound bite is in the middle, right??

I'm going on a walk.

It was a great walk, WOXOF. (walks of?)
Thanks, BigDave!
Slowride - PM coming 'atcha...

Day 33 concluded...

So, we were still looking forward to Chimney Rock Springs.
This is what it looked like last year - so pretty...

We rode and rode and didn't see the rock.
So, we decided to stop here.

Close up of the sign for you detective-types.

Are rider914 and kkug still around? I think they might have stayed in the same area, if not the same spot. (bottom of the page)
I think they called it cave valley?
Regardless, this was the best free camping spot. It was perfect.
No one around, nice fire ring.

Just watch out for the pokey things on the ground (some kind of spiked seed pods).
We scraped the ground with our boots before putting up the tent

can of chicken + box of stuffing = chuffing?

Had a nice fire.

Our marshmallows didn’t look so hot, but they tasted okay.

Threw the rest in the fire. From whence they came.
I’m melting...

We only got a few sprinkles. Lucky!

And look at this sunset!

It was a pretty freaking awesome birthday!
Edit: I forgot to mention this, but except for brief bits of pavement when we went into town to get gas (Kanosh and Stateline),
we were in the dirt the whole time!
250+ miles

Norman

Oh, so I went all Aussie Stalker on the GPS coordinates and got this:

Pretty useless.

Here’s the map version.
The Lat/Lon Coordinates are the green arrow.
The red A is just something that google stuck in there (the closest road that it would recognize).

Better?
I dunno.
