bike cover

Since i ride my bike to work from time to time i'd like to keep prying eyes off it.

Any recommendations on cheap bike covers. Doesn't have to be super heavy duty, just needed to obscure the nosey people.

thx

I keep a Nelson Rigg UV2000 cover in my saddle bag to keep the sun off during the day. Looks like they changed them to half covers, though.

1/2 cover huh. Not going to cut it. Sometimes i'm in less than desirable areas that are for the most part ok and secure however a full cover would be necessary. the bm cover is 120 bucks. Looking for like half that and preferably generic looking, not screaming bmw all over the place, guess it could go on inside out. did some googling but didn't find anything decent.

They have lots of other choices on the website. This one is $19.95

You might also want to look into the Dowco covers: http://www.dowcopowersports.com/prod...rcycle_covers/

waco, good looking out. 20 bucks for a cover is exactly what i'm talking about.

Do any of you have any idea what size cover would be appropriate for the 8gs? Would you think L by the fitting guide or XL due to the stubby windshield? MC-900. I guess better to err on the side of being bigger rather than smaller?

this is what i'm looking at.

edit: Actually just called cycle gear and they have 'em for 40 bucks so that's essentially what nelson'll cost me with shipping. Going to go investigate, if i get one i'll throw up a pic.

eBay

I know that they aren't top quality, but I did find a cover for an F650gs on eBay for less than $20 new. It worked just fine to keep the dust off over the winter.

Just a thought.

Find the rattiest, nasty cover you can buy... no one will look twice...

Honestly though no one steals a BMW bike... especially not the F800GS if they know anything about it. With the new systems the bike is useless without the key, its heavy, no market for spare parts etc. (compare it to a bike like my SV650S which is one of the most stolen bikes, I've got a security system on it).

Lets hope they target the V-strom next to your bike before they try anything funny on the BMW

i'm not really worried about them stealing it, just being idiots, jealous or otherwise. People are unpredictable, vindictive and general ass holes sometimes. Figure a cover moves them along a bit.

Regardless of the theft risk, keeping the sun off your bike will prevent fading and help keep it looking new. A large would probably work for an 800GS. Call customer service if you aren't sure.

Really??

Someone took the cover off my bike which was parked right outside my bedroom window trying to pinch it but only ended up bending the bars cause they couldn't break the steering lock

it's garaged all the time but at work, despite parking right across from the main entrance in motorc designated parking, i'd like to avoid anything and yes, keeping the sun off it is a big concern as well. I don't expect any issues b/c i don't think humanity has degenerated to this point of behavior yet, but i don't work in an ultra high budget area, its marginally rough. Just trying to be proactive and too me 40 bucks for weather protection and general covered, so out of site out of mind is well worth it.

thx everyone for the replies.
