Well no day is a total loss if you learn something. Now you know that some people can wear braces, & still be cool.
However your results may vary

oops

Steve was aiming to come along on tomorrows ride to cnut hill so he decided to earn a few brownie points by doing some household maintenance.

So after lunch today he hopped up onto the carport roof to check it out and lost his balance and fell through the brittle perspex sheets.

One ambulance ride later and he's firmly ensconced in Wgtn hospital with a fractured spine.

He'll see a surgeon sometime in the next few days to decide what is going to happen to him but it looks likely that they won't operate but he'll have to wear a back brace until it all heals

He seemed in reasonable spirits when I spoke to him a little while ago but that could be the morphine talking....

I would say this classifies as a bad run....

Golly........!
No wonder us motorcyclists have to pay such high ACC levies.
Sure hope there is no lasting damage - get well soon Steve.

Regards,
Michael

Sorry to hear of your bad luck Steve. Mark has done a great job of keeping us in the loop. Hope you're not stuck in hospital too long.

Cheers

Ah feck. Sorry to hear about that. perspex on roofs is bloody dangerous. I have a plate and 6 bolts holding my left heel together from them.

Yes I went thru one as an apprentice- luckily the wire netting underneath caught my leg & stopped me falling 10m down onto a concrete floor. I also was at my mates place & watched a painter drop straight thru one - he was alright after a few weeks. Our goat went thru the one we had in the workshop - I replaced it with iron after that as we got rid of the goat & got kids.

Sorry to hear about the accident Steve. If you need any mags to read or whatever sing out. As we hurt our ribs on the same day I am staying away from heights for a few days.

update

He's been seen by a specialist and will go home in a day or two but will have to wear a back brace for three months. Apparently he'll have to take a fair bit of time off work.
