The Long Way Round (The Lake)
Paul and Jim and I went for a run around Windsor Lake, here in Eastern Newfoundland, with a pair of helmet cams mounted up, both rear-facing and forward. Paul let me copy the footage off his rear-facing camera, to use along with my footage in producing a ride video.
I mounted my camera on the side of my helmet today, which is another new perspective I was eager to test. It worked out pretty well, too. Kind of a happy medium between the top of the helmet, and the torso locations. Paul went for a nice little slide on a slick section of trail and ended up halfway into the trees ("kissing the pines", as he calls it Thanks to Jim and Paul for joining me on such short notice today. Great run, lads! Here's a bunch of still captures from the ride, and an HD video... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Info on the helmet cams?
Great shots of your ride. It looked like fun. Can you provide info on the make and mounting of your helmet cams?

I've done a lot of experimenting with mounting positions for the GoPro helmet cam. I like to mix it up between the top of the helmet (both rear and forward facing), the side of the helmet, the front of my MX flack jacket, and even on the front fender. The GoPro camera comes with several different mounts, including a very durable set of quick-release adhesive mounts. If I had to pick one mounting postion to stick with, it would be the side of the helmet. Here's some examples...
