Well I was planning to head down to Rebel Yell this weekend in Suches, Ga but I didn't get my Thu-Fri swapped to a Sat-Sun.

The weather was yucky here Thu, cold and rainy and it was cold again this morning but looked to be sunny. UPS tracking showed that the new clutch for my DR would be delivered today but it hadn't showed yet by noon and I got bored after a lazy morning and decided to go out for a spin.

The view turning off the street I live on made it look like I may have made the right choice.

Admittedly the fall colors here in the SE US are not as wide spread spectacular as they are in other places....and it's still not quite peak yet at lower elevations either.

There's usually a few splashes of brilliance in the KM parks.....not so much yet at the living history farm though.

Now that's looking a little more like fall, eh?

Same, same old Apple Rd.

Back on the main rd on the NP side.

A gated FR

A private gate...why is all the fun looking stuff gated?

This view of Kings Pinnacle is still pretty green aint it.

There was just a little more color around this lake.....

I was thinking about stopping here and just chilling out for a while...but when I got here I didn't feel like it anymore.

So down the road I go...

...down to that same old neighborhood beaver pond.

I didn't see any beavers....just a bird.

I was thinking of riding up towards the foothills to see more color but there were some scary looking black clouds floating around.

The forecast was for snow showers at higher elevations but I thought it would stay sunny down low..better check the bat-phone-radar.

Should I stay or should I go?

I decided to head back for home and got sprinkled on as I rode through town. This house used to have several more big bright colorful trees in the yard but new owners cut them all down.

Turing back onto my street...I just made it in the dry.

...and looked who followed me up the driveway!

I didn't get around to working on the DR yet though...but I did change the heater core in my truck. Still have to finish hooking up wires, hoses and cables tomorrow before work as I ran out of daylight. (phone pic)

I don't know if it's a good thing that I'm missing out on Rebel Yell or not.

This pic was posted on TWO's facebook page this afternoon!!

Well, it was a nice day around here. It was never out of the 40's, it rained, it sleeted, it likely snowed, the wind blew, the sun was out.........mixed conditions.

You did good with the pictures.....Brasstown Bald was white this afternoon. Never made it to TWO, but they got the point across with their picture.

Hey Kevin, nice pics as usual.

I'm thinking I'm OK with being at work instead of at TWO right now...

Well not only did I miss out on all the snowy fun at Rebel Yell last weekend....there was talk of joining Gaston Gagne and Co. for a thumper ride today and tomorrow...or maybe just tomorrow.

But I boogered up my clutch install and couldn't get the cover to seal up without a new paper gasket.

Now I've used that Ultra Grey High Torque permatex with good results on other engine covers but didn't get any love after two tries on that clutch cover.

For my consolation I took a little spin out towards the Isothermal Belt to check on the status of the fall colors this afternoon.

Close to my house there's still of good bit of green so the color should continue here for another week or two.....

....but out on Apple Rd things are beginning to brighten up a bit more.

Heading West.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

Now the Isothermal Belt is an area that experiences milder weather year round than either it's mountainous or flatland neighbors.

Maybe I should do a little house shopping here.

Ooooo...this one is available!!

Just needs a little TLC

A fresh coat of paint and some energy efficient windows.....

...maybe some new carpet for that nice open floor plan.

It even comes with it's very own fresh water well!!

I'm afraid that it does look like the power has been cut off though.

It's all about location, location, location...as you'll see in my next post.

Location, location, location....this would be in my backyard.

Across the street....

Standing in the same place as I took that last pic and just turning 100 degrees to my Left. The house sits atop that little knoll behind my bike and the circle drive comes out right behind it.

Just up the road a piece I seen an old RR grade and could not resist.

It was just a shortcut for the main road.....but it did bring me back past this neat little swimming hole complete with rope swings!

Passing through town I spied what could be your next project bike too.

At this point I wondered if maybe the color was past peak.

But things looked much better along the lake.

I don't know about you? But I like seeing signs like this one.

...and this one.

It turned out to be a very colorful run! But I blurred most of my shots while riding through the shadows.....but here's a few of the better blurs.

Over exposed...I haven't tried to edit any of these pics.....

It really kind of sucked.

I seen a roadside waterfall.

Top of the mountain.

Yeah...it sucked.

Looking back at the mountain I was just on top of.....

Here's a little "where's waldo" for ya...

A flock of turkeys flew across the road in front of me...there are at least 3 of them in this pic.
Can you find them?

Nice surveillance sign!

Heading home I seen a sign that said Chesnee Veterans Day Parade @ 4PM....I rolled through town @ 4:15

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!

THANK YOU!

OK....today my wife actually had some free time that matched my free time and she wanted to go see some pretty leaves too.

The ride ended up being a partial repeat of yesterday's but the one one big change would be that we would be riding two-up on "the pig"

That old '79 XS11 seemed eager enough herself and away we went...

I tried not to take too many repeat pics as we passed through the KM parks today...

There's more color around this cabin than there was last week though.

We were a little pressed for time today so instead of scouring the backroads for real estate we blasted down the 4 lane for a ways... That mtn is the one I was on top of yesterday.

Although there does appear to be some available along the lake.

I did at least one repeat pic....trying for a better exposure.

We stopped at Larkin's for a mid afternoon lunch out on the patio.

Now I don't see too many of these old XS11s out and about anymore but.....

...as we were leaving look what was parked just a few feet away!

The Mrs. didn't want her pic taken....

We neglected to stop at a roadside cider stand while we were up at the lake so the next best thing would be one of the farm's outlets in Gaffney on the way home. That would also keep us off the boring 4 lane.

Christmas looks to be on the way!

I don't know if this recipe they had posted inside is any good or not...why don't you try it and let me know?

Last weekend was definitely peak for fall foliage, but here's a phone pic from a ride to work a few days ago...before storms cleaned out a lot of the leaves.

And there is still this one big maple in town.......

I finally got that clutch in my old DR650 squared away yesterday, it only took me 4x to get it right. but it does seem to be right at the moment.

As chance would have it my wife also had a couple of hours free mid day today so she accompanied me on a test run from aboard her XR250.

Yep, winter is just around the corner now.

The brightest orange of the day may have been the cones at the Bears Den's lawnmower racing course.

...all the leaves are brown......

Just cruising the back roads....

Then my Mrs. was almost taken out by a stray calf!!

Well, you gotta signal and let the cow know which way you're going!!

That was the day's closest encounter..

These splashes of color are definitely fewer and farther between.

After lunch I went out on my own just to play on a few local trails...and see if I remembered how!

Trails? I don't need no steenkin' trails.

Now I'm home all alone...well me and three dogs, so I think we'll go out in the backyard and build a campfire and enjoy what's left of fall.
