Here's a closer look at my 'air-conditioner' there's a windshield washer pump in there that circulates ice water through tubing that's sewn into and old shirt.

....the road beyond was still begging to be explored.

Charla Heads!

It was beginning to bring back memories of Caney Fork.

...but then I was getting myself into kind of a tight spot to be on the Strom. I had to go down this as there was no turning around.....getting back up it is getting close to the bikes clearance capabilities though.

The trail was only getting rougher and the approaching thunder was only getting louder.

I threw in the towel and doubled back from here....successfully, I might add!

Not knowing exactly where I was, where the trail might come out, what obstacles might be yet to come, if I'd get caught in a downpour....and even though I'd spied fresh knobbie tracks, I couldn't be sure if I was even supposed to be there to begin with or long it may be before help came by if I were to get stuck out there...... Yeah, I'm kinda stooopid.

Miles away, at the bottom of the mountain, I came across this sign and couldn't help but wonder...

Enjoying the cool air of an approaching storm.....and not at all worried about getting caught in it...anymore.

Gratuitous crappy 'white sky' pics.

Looks like it already rained here....maybe I can stay between 'em?

The thing about not having any particular place to go is that you don't have to head for those dark clouds......unless that's the only place the road goes!

Well, well....friendlier skies in the Wilson Creek gorge.

I'm happy to report that I was able to stay between storms and in cooler air all the way home! .....and you can rest easy knowing that was the last crappy pic I took that day!

I thought that yellow brick road was in one of Don's RRs. Neat places up there.

That storm brewing over you must have been the precursor to the weather system that hit the Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park yesterday/last night and resulted in a few deaths and lots of damage. Seems awful late in the season for that kind of storm damage - I've always associated that with Spring and Fall frontal passages.

Well, it's 10 AM sharp, the temp is only 85 right now, I think I'll suit up and take a ride. Maybe go up above Titusville and see if they ever reopened Shiloh Marsh Road - been closed TFN since the Fall for some extra heavy duty maintenance. Was supposed to have reopened around Feb-Mar.

How long before you take the DR up to re-do that trail?

Didn't even start a bike last week, OK that's not quite true as I rode to work a few times but that doesn't count!

Today the morning started out with super fun super slab run down I-85 then onto back roads from Gville through the Georgia foothills.

Good to see they still have some water in the lakes this year, even if it is a bit low.

Georgia has some sheds, shacks and shanties too ya know!

Then my little Wee Strom had to endure something that she's never had to do before.

Sure do hope that she didn't actually like it!

The truck did NOT pick up the bike

The bike rode down to pick up the truck!!

Now that flux's old truck is my new truck......

Does anybody need my old, old truck?
