Thanks! That's just too easy to remember!

You'd better send me a PM if you're headed this way!

very nice! I love that part of the country. I have ridden the southern end of the brp many times, but rarely get further north than Mt Mitchell. I did the whole thing about 10 years ago. I stopped at some overlook in NC and it was so mesmerizing I could have stayed there all day...

I envy you getting to have the brp in your neighborhood.

Really pretty country back there Ken.

Every time I see a picture of you I remember you walking around at Westfest with your giant stogie and that big grin sayin' "I got the El Presidente' out tonight!"

What Kevin...no pics with a 4 speed DR 650?
By the way we'll still be in Cheaha as planned.

Hey there Bert!

Y'know I was saving that 'ol DR to ride with y'all in WNC on Labor Day! Thanks for the invite to Cheaha though! ...but I doubt I'll make it.....

A few days ago I was also planning to get that 'ol thumper up to Brown Mtn to ride some trails today.. But a friend needed some help this morning and once that was taken care of we ended up going for a street ride with the gang I call "The Old Guys from Work"

Pretty scary bunch, don't you think?

It was probably a good thing that I didn't go to Brown as it got up into the 90s and was a bit sticky even riding street.

We just cruised some local back roads...

...and took lots of convenience store breaks....what's always a nice find there is a "beer cave" aka walk-in cooler.

....we even met Jamie at one of those stops!

Hi Jamie...it was nice to meet you ...not sure how you escaped my camera though? ..nor did I think that it was still peach season...apples should be very soon.

Windmills may not be able to get me to stop and attempt a good shot but I can't resist pointing at them on the fly.

Thanks for tuning into this weeks edition of 'banjo's neighborhood.

Thanks steve and Jamie!

I went out for a spin today on my only day off of the holiday weekend..but it was a good one!

Somehow I took way too many pics so this may need a couple of posts.

Just rolling out of the neighborhood....

...and through the Kings Mtn parks.

There's lots of Revolutionary War history in this area and this is a cool place to check out!

...but today I'm just passing through...

For some reason I just like to go down this dead end and practice my u-turns every now and then.

The cotton crop looks pretty healthy this year...it'll look brown and dead when it's ready for harvest in about another month.

Although some white puffs can already be seen...

Same road, different day....I ride through this farmland a lot when I'm headed for the hills.

The remnants of an old mill.

Just up the street I made another house call...

I might try some post process on this one later....

We had perfect weather all three days of Labor Day weekend here in the Western Carolinas....I hope you did too.

Same old, same old...my shortcut to the Parkway.....

The highest point in North America East of the Mississippi looks a little different without all the cloud cover from page one of this thread....same spot, different day.

It was a holiday...so I joined the parade!

Traffic had not been an issue until I decided to climb the mtn....

You can hike to the actual summit and there's an observation platform up there...but I didn't bother today as even the parking lot was quite busy.

I think it was beetles that killed a lot of trees.

Heading South on the Parkway.

When stuck in traffic.....ride around shutter happy!

Well I dropped back off the Parkway at my first chance and did my best to avoid Asheville and it's traffic. Next thing I know I find myself in Hot Springs with a clean traffic free run down 209!

Then I found myself at a crossroads.

Next up.....Hurricane damage!
