Seems to me that this part of the world has more and brighter colors in the underbrush, so to speak, than in the treetops as viewed from an overlook. The run up 276 may have been the prettiest colors of the weekend?

I was just a clickin' away like the fool that I am........

Up on the Blue ridge Parkway....see what I mean?

I just rode up through that forest and the colors looked much brighter down inside of it.....

Don't get me wrong.....the BRP is a beautiful place.

Traffic wasn't bad either.

My official leaf peepin' report is that if you didn't get out this weekend you'd best try and get out there this week as it's gonna be cold through the weekend into next week and they will change and fall fast!

This is looking back down into the Caney Fork area that was featured here on the old DR650 about 6 weeks ago.....

Took a short hike on the Mountains to Sea hiking trail to make a pit stop and stretch my legs a little.....found a base camp right off the BRP.

A north facing slope on the decent to Waynesville.

Glamor shots.

I wonder how many years it's been since she's had a bath?

Almost down off the BRP......

Ran the 4 lane for a bit, 74 to 28, still quite green at Fontana Lake....water is quite low as well.

Amazing just how green it was there!

From there it was the 143 through Robbinsville and over the Cherohala Skyway that becomes 165 on the TN side and down to Bald River Falls and Tellico Plains for the night.

The Skyway didn't have a lot of spectacular color...the low end by the lake being mostly green then the top being already past peak and bare. Around the 4,000 foot area give or take is where the colors were.

It was also clouded over up top so I didn't bother stopping for pics....just enjoyed the ride and snapped a few on the fly.

Bald River Falls....in challenging lighting.

It's a pretty ride in and out of the Falls area along the river but I failed to capture it.

Saturday morning late I was all packed up and back on the road only to be caught up in road construction just a couple miles from camp, that had traffic stopped and waiting for what seemed like forever.

So I took a side road that was in sight not knowing where it went. I ended up popping out on the 68 north of town and decided to just take it up to the 411 and ride back through Deals Gap.

Not much color change at the Calderwood overlook yet either.

There was a little bit more color along the road itself though.....

I was pleasantly surprised to get in a traffic free run around noon on a Saturday during leaf peepin' season!

p.s. the pro photogs were out in force and I tried to throw sparks off the running boards in front of them all.
who all did I see?....killboy, moonshinephoto, us129photos and 129slayer.....or something.
