Thanks guys!

I just realized that the Strom hasn't been anywhere since early September! Could that even be right?

It was cold overnight here, below freezing for at least 6 hours with a low of 29. Things had warmed up to almost 50 by Noon so I decided to go on a little afternoon spin.

The freeze didn't seem to have an immediate effect on the leaves, maybe tomorrow.

I noticed a lot of cotton still in fields......

This one was only 1/2 cotton this year...but nothing harvested. Early summer was real wet and late summer real dry...maybe the crop isn't worth harvesting this year?

I'm not up on the cotton market so I won't venture an official guess but I also noticed that there were NO cotton wagon lined up, either full or empty at the gin in Fallston!

There's a few red leaves on the little tree in this front yard.

Casar is at the base of the South Mtns....still pretty green here too.

Climbing NC80 out of Marion to the BRP began to show a few hints of color....but nothing spectacular.

I mostly pulled over because I had just caught a long line of cars.....and this road is too fun to waste any of it like that!

But when there's no traffic in front of you it's just too much fun to stop for pics!!

Will these be pretty later in the week or will they just turn brown and fall off?

Looking towards the South face of the Black Mtns .....

Green, brown or bare....dominated the BRP itself.

It has been so mild then all of a sudden there's a hard freeze and high winds.....doesn't seem like the best recipe for leaf peepin'

I'm not sure what to think about this....SPOT never seen me on NC80 Saturday, even though I stopped twice on that route to let traffic clear and take in the scenery......

...but somebody that goes by "Blind Kenny" caught the whole thing!

I saw Blind Kenny up there last year on my way up to a party at the realkenny's. It was raining like hell when I went by, so I gave him the salute. My pic never showed up on his site.

How was the tarsnake on 226A? In August, they were treacherous.
