Thanks iDave, gnuse, IBGONE, EbarDP48 & bigredsexy

Bert...are you gonna be up here doing any leaf peepin' in the coming weeks? It's not too late this year.

Well I started a new work schedule this week and Fridays will now be my Sundays for the rest of the year. And boy did today feel like a lazy Sunday warm and sunny and nothing on the agenda. I just felt like taking it easy but it was too nice out not to go for a little spin, even if I didn't get out of the neighborhood.

I like this road for fall color.....but there's none here yet.

I decided to just go chill out at a small local lake that has a neat rocky point that makes a good place to fish or just chill.

As I was just lying there on the rocks relaxing in the shade I did notice that the trees overhead were trying to change their color.

I almost had the place to myself.

This is a cell phone shot that I sent to FB before climbing back on the bike.

It looked like a good day to be a beaver too....

Hmmmm is that a little bit of red out there on the point?

And a parting shot of the little piggy at the beaver pond.

I'm still feeling lazy and starting my work week on Saturday while the rest of you go out to play has me a bit bummed.

....but I recon that I'll get over it.

That's kind of like I was feeling last Saturday morning when sitting at a stoplight on 74 in Shelby, I see you guys heading west to the Mecca.

Y'all sure do get around.

The word went out that the "Dual Sport Nationals" were going to be run at a local 1/8 mile dragstrip. So I decided that I'd load up the mighty CT70 and see what she'd do.

Well....I never did make it to the track.

You see my parents were on the way into town as dad and I have been going to the NASCAR race since the late 80s and the timing just didn't work out.

But Dad get to do a little day trippin' of his own on the CT

Mom was content to just document ..although she is a rider herself and they share a Burgman now a days.

...and to play with the puppies

Monument at the Kings Mtn Battlefield.

One of the first things we checked out at the track was these Indians.

And then there was the ride for the wounded warriors...

It included bikes, trikes both human powered and motorized.

One of these is not like the others

There was a pre-race stunt

...and a fly-over

..and of course some racing.

It's always good to spend some time with the folks.

Tomorrow I head for the hills looking for fall colors on my way to NCN '10

Good seats!

And, the CT 70 brings back many fond memories. They're fun little bikes.

THURSDAY October 21, 2010

Objective:

Ride as many twisty as back roads as possible in search of fall colors.

Not all twisty backroads are paved

Peak color is also very sensitive to elevation change. Overlooking the low lands from Caesars Head made that very apparent.

I stopped in to see Kat....but she wasn't there.

It was a horrible day of riding...totally sucked!

Then I stumbled upon a top secret gubberment installation while the guard was apparently taking a potty break.

Layla has the code to move those dishes around. She's part of a secret network. So if there are any objects in the sky you need to zoom in on...

Sweet!

Can she pull any strings to get me my messages from home?

....my tin-foil hat doesn't work up there...

Well I guess this place isn't as top secret as it used to be, but they still make me check in from time to time.

Here's the sign out front but I've always known it as TACS The Alien Communications Station

It was awfully quiet around there.....all the MIBs must have been out for lunch.

OK it's still Thursday, the 1st of a 4 day weekend of riding for me and I swear that I'm not really an alien....honest.

Here, I can even post a pic of a church next so you know that I aint lying. btw...that uphill lefty turns into a downhill rightie...right there!

Just a few "on the fly" shots....

It's hard to get a good focused exposure in the shadows while shooting on the fly like that ...but I'll post this one just because it's such an awesome road.

Elijay, NC was a cornucopia of colorful corners.

I soon found myself in the mountains of North Georgia as my destination for the night was the Two Wheels Only campground in Suches.

But the local tourists traps were just a blur to me as I whizzed past.

But I finally did take the time to stop at an overlook and snap a few shots from a non-moving position!

...and then some more from on the fly.

I even washed my tires in a couple of shallow crossings...

Wolf Pen Gap flew by in a blur of color splashes....

My resting place for the night.

There were 1/2 a dozen of us riders camped there that night and we had a too much fun around the campfire....and that's all I'm gonna say about that.
