did you need your spare fuel can, or did your F800GS have the range for the new phase 3 ???? what is the longest distance between fuel stops on the new phase 3 section?? I plan on doing the trip next year on the same bike, F800GS[/quote] it's ~240 miles from HV-GB to Port Hope Simpson and that's the distance between gas stops. I put gas in with 30 miles to go. One gallon extra should be sufficient if the weather allows you to ride at a good speed.

There's a couple of ferry crossings of note. Ludington Michigan/Manitowoc Wisconsin, and South Baymouth/Tobermory Ontario. I'm originally from Thunder Bay, and can tell you the north shore of Lake Superior is one of the most beautiful rides in the world. Just sayin'

Great ride report
and enjoyed the history lessons included. Looking forward to doing this ride in the next couple years. I was born in Goose Bay when the only road ran between Goose and Happy Valley. Too young to remember it, but looking forward to visiting and checking out the airfield my dad operated from.
Nice avatar by the way. Marc

when at Goose Bay they were just starting the road to Churchhill falls....wow that was alot of years ago.....42-43! I still have friiends there and would be a great way to visit. Just so bloody far from Alaska. thanx for the great ride report |
