Thank you guys!
There was a short one to Poland last week actually. I'll try to write something about it too, but it's quite different from this one of course.
Next longer trip is probably in August/September, direction - Georgia (not in US )

5 stars from me as well, great stuff guys, and thank you Randel for writing this RR!!

I loved the part about the GS needing to be tied down otherwise it would ride itself back home at night...

Hello boys, I found your RR yesterday by hazard and I'm very impressed about your trip in relativly unknown land (for us in western europe) and the beautiful landscapes you passed and, above all, how many breakdowns you had to fix on the new bikes. But you handled it very well.
I wish you much fun for your next ride and try to show new pics abaout it.
Ciao Nelliedriver

Your story was great! Good photos and pretty funny text.
This year we also went to Kola Peninsula - as I know, it was planned following your inspiring example. But, ofcourse everything was not so as planned, we lost a little bit in swamps of Kola :) well, and tested what does it meen "wet feet"
you can see our photos here (unfortunately it's written in lithuanian language...) http://sigitaemile.blogas.lt/kaip-li...yrinejo-3.html
Have some good other trips :) what's next?

Nice ride guys - sooo nice direction to Russsia.
We made almost the same direction (Muramnsk and Zapoljarnyj) this year in February. One of bikers is the same witch you meet on old R100GS with passenger . Soon on the ADV

My guess would be that they spread salt on the road to keep the dust down.

While researching on some roads in Karelia and Murmansk Oblast I stumbled upon a picture with a guy that looked familiar.

I guess this is the other side of the camera from your pictures here:

Four happy polish bikers, they have started from Kirovsk this morning and driven all day to arrive here, just 150km in a day.

They showed us pictures from the roads they have been riding today. Water deeper than front wheel, mud, nonexisting bridges. To be honest, it made us thinking, are we sure, what we want and where are we going?
How did they make it with passenger? Actually that girl didn't say a word and was seemingly exhausted. Those poles must be even stronger than we are!

They've got some nice pictures and it seems that they upped the ante after meeting you. They went on to ride offroad all the way to Arkhangelsk and around the Onega peninsula. Crazy poles.

Have fun: https://plus.google.com/photos/10552...58970452452481
