Bear Tooth, Glacier NP, Banff, Pacific Coast Highway & More - A Month of Moto Camping

Hi!

Sheryl and I are ready to hit the road again for another long range moto camping tour. This will be the first extended trip since our month in Mexico on the BMW GS earlier this year. There have been a number of smaller trips including a trip to the northeast with friends and redoing the Colorado and Utah portion of the TAT.

We stopped following strict plans quite some time ago. Being retired with near unlimited time gives us a lot of flexibility. There is a 8,000 mile general loop laid out with a list of desirable points of interest. If we run out of time, its OK, we will see the missed ones next time! As far as daily stopping places, there are absolutely no plans other than finding a park of some type that has camping. It is a good likelihood that the first night will be in a motel due to warm weather, but by the second night, we should be in cooler temps.

This trip will be on our 2002 1800 Goldwing pulling a Bushtec trailer. We will be camping most of the time. Heat is about the only thing that keeps us from camping. 70 degree plus camping is no fun, we can deal with high 20s and low 30s with no problems. The trailer sure comes in handy hauling our large tent, queen size air mattress and all of our cooking supplies. Not to mention spare clothes, tools, extra water, ice and whatever else is needed. It makes us much more self sufficient.

I will put up a picture or two before the day is out and we will be leaving in the morning. We plan on trying to do a RR while on the road. It seems a lot of the camping sites now have wifi, so hopefully we can stay in touch! You never know when you might need some help or suggestions!

Donnie & Sheryl

THE BIG YELLOW ADVENTURE BIKE!!!

This rig does not turn around at dirt and gravel.

Starting mileage:

Over 220,000 miles and it will pull that trailer loaded and two up at 100 mph all day long and never break a sweat!

I'll be in the Glacier area starting around 9/7. Going to Whitefish from Billings, MT, by way of Yaak, MT, (cuz I've never been to Yaak). Will be riding mostly 2 lane and some gravel.
Be hard to miss that yellow rig. May see you out there.

Will do. Be sure you do the Chief Joseph Highway along with the Beartooth Pass.
A great loop is breakfast at the Regis in Red Lodge - up the pass & across to the Chief Joseph - out to Cody, WY, for lunch - back to Red Lodge through Belfry & Bear Creek (may want to stop for the pig races in Bear Creek). Bring your cold weather gear.

Yes, we plan on doing both! We have done them once before and look forward to the second time!

BTW, we did a 29 day moto camping trip to the northwest back in 2008. We did not make it to Canada that year, nor to the west coast. Hopefully we will get there this time, but first we will revisit a few choice areas from 2008. Here is a link:

Donnie and Sheryl, have a wonderful time! With that bright yellow bike and trailer, looks like you are bringing along your own sunshine! I look forward to hearing about your adventures.

Hi!

You know, we are from the sunny south! But it rained 1.5 inches today!
