Hey Vance, just now saw your ride report. I knew you probably would do one but guess I overlooked it until now. Sorry we were not able to hook up with you in Colorado. Hope you are having a good time. I know you are. Don't worry too much about keeping up with the ride report while you are doing the ride. We are all anxious to hear about it but if you stress about it, it takes away from the ride. I know from personal experience that it is hard to do a ride report while you are doing the ride. We'll get together after you get back and I'll get a live report.

If you need a parts bike, I saw this for sale in Star Idaho. Just a few miles from Boise:

Hey All.

I met up with Vinnie the Snake at Dave's house in Pocatello On Sunday evening.

They crew is in good spirits, but getting a little "velocity weary".
After so many days on the road, it just feels good to sit still for a while.

But here are a few pictures of our studly adventurers.

Vance, getting out of the mighty FJ 'chase vehicle'.

Chilli'n on Dave's porch.

Eating YUMMY food.

Can you believe this feast?
Thank you, thank you, thank you Dave!

Nice to meet you Questor. Thanks for getting my good side in that eating photo.

You go through life thinking you're a hard-core rider, then along comes a guy like questor.

The guy rides more in a week than I do in a year. Not only that- he does dirt on a portly 950 KTM which everyone knows Is no match for a KLR250.

Also we got to see Dave's Love Shop, a huge barn outside of Pocatello. I have severe Shed envy now.

Vinnie has forgotten his ADV password so it falls to me bump-wise.

We've made it to Crested Butte, Colorado and the riding has been fantastic. We were on the Contidivide and have switched to the Shadow of the Rockies. Very smooth, graded county roads. I needed a break and so did the baby KLR.

Weather has taken a turn for the best- sunny, warm, no rain. I'm happiest when things go good.
On to Salida today. We passed the 4000 mile mark- about 2/3 have been dirt.

Vance's WR is eating up another chain- we must have been adjusting it too tight. Now we leave it til it drags the ground.

Photos will follow whenever Vance gets back on the forum. Old people forget things all the time so don't be too hard on the Geezer.

All that fresh air and freedom must be affecting Vance's brain. Maybe he will remember it before you get back.

You probably already know this, but after you adjust the chain, lay across the seat and grab hold of the swing arm and pull the suspension down to it's tightest point and make sure the chain is not too tight at that point.

Have a beer for me at the Vic tonight. That is what the Salida locals call Victoria Bar.

Vinnie,

I bought a 2008 WR250R from fellow in Broken Arrow that went to high school with you.

I don't think he rides as much as you..... the bike had 206 miles on it was loaded in my truck.

Thanks for the awesome RR!

Young Vinnie-The-Asp still cannot log in. I'd feel bad for him except he's kicking up a lot of dust on the trails. Dust I have to eat. Dust I have to remove from my nose.

We've made it through Colorado on the Shadow trail, ran into some boulder-riffic sections that worked us pretty hard. 20 miles of rocks took 3 hours. The toll road out of Salida to Bonanza was rocky too, but much easier.

Mostly graded since which is fine with me- I'm no hero. We reversed the TAT east from Trinadad and it was a sweet ride. Stopped by the little two-cell jail (Branson?) for a shiv and a tattoo. Not many inmates in that jail.

We are approaching 5000 moto-miles on this ride, the chase truck has done 8K! Many thanks to Robert for all the diaper changing on this trip. We could not have done it without him.

Should be Tulsa tomorrow. Maybe The Asp can figure out how to post up then.

Day 4 - Cortez, Co to Bickne, UT

Day 4 started with the normal check oil, chains and ourselves. Getting into the routine seemed to be a prescription to miss something simple. Something new today. Then ready for the upcoming events of the day.

SO, down Hwy 95 we continued to find another site to visit.

Day 4 Continued

Robert shined up the chase vehicle for a photo.

This guy kept buzzing me so finally decided a picture was in order.

Just liked what I saw out there in the open air.

Then on to Glen Canyon for fuel, some lunch, the bridge crossing and out for the rest of the day to find a place to sleep for the night.

That is cool you got that bike, yes it is like new if not new. Glen is a great guy, hated to see he needed to sale it.

As far as the WR, that little machine was an amazing peice of equipment on this ride. Worked it harder than any bike I have ever owned. Exposed a issue my bike has, but will be working to figure it out.

My issue, appears that mine a chain eating machine. I think it is a suspension issue I may have created, Kraybill will be getting a call from me in the near future.

Joe, dude, you always talking smack, I love it. Now we are done and I can focus on the RR, maybe some of the video will tell the story.

Be safe on your journey home. Robert is editing video at this very moment and we hope to have a daily video log to go along with the RR.
