Cows not welcome

Funny signs along the road while riding have a way of making a lasting impression. A weird little hand-made sign just before we rode into the Stewart Ranch 'COWS NOT WELCOME' - sorry, no photos of that as we were doing about 65 mph on some crazy 25 mph road.

Don’t know what the cow signage was all about but I do know that everything in California is cooler, bigger, more spectacular and pretty much blows everything else away - this also applies to the guys I was lucky enough to ride with last weekend.

Lots of this -

I'm beat after riding with these North Bay maniacs for 3 days and driving the 500 miles home today - more tomorrow . . . a lot more!

I drove the 460 miles to Blake’s really cool house above Clear Lake, California. It was hotter than the back of God’s head and I have no AC in my old truck. Stopped in Weed for a taco and and a refreshing soda.

Thankfully Blake is a swimmer so we jumped in the lake. AHHHHHHH, what a relief! Cocktails before a great dinner.

A really great group of fellows that are excited for the first day of single track up in the mountains north of here. You never know who is fast, crazy, slow or cautious, what the level of difficulty is going to be or in my case - where we’re going!?!?

It is a beautiful day and this is gorgeous country. Probably going to be hot and certainly dusty but these guys know what they’re doing and where to go. I’m stoked to be included on this ‘private day’ of riding.

My old buddy Scot Schmidt hasn’t been riding the bike much but he is as excited to get up in the hills as I am.

Immediately after leaving the staging area, it is obvious these guys (every one of them) are riders. Blake is clearly the wheelie king and can hoist the front wheel at any speed, on any surface and carry it till it stops turning. Amazing skills.
We roll all this awesome single track above the canyon we parked in. Yes, it’s hot but it’s incredible riding.

We climbed up here from the west side and I think that Stoneyford is on the other side of this mountain. Not sure though, I was fairly lost.

Riding with these guys was super fun. Everyone is fast but polite and sincerely happy to share their local knowledge - and there were some good jokes too.

Dig that trail out there! - This is dirt bike heaven.

more soon . . .

Not in the same truck - but with some rain? Not too much - just a little bit?

Over-the-top terrain, for sure.

OK, so I'm gonna drive up to Oregon in 10 days and go riding in an area really close to your house and I'm not going to tell you about it

BTW, Stonyford is better

There’s Schmidty

My camera work was not very good but this was fairly steep and took us to the top above Stoneyford - I think.

Missed the dang wheelie -

Yes, we rode all of that.
