So you are heading to Cuba?

I ran into a couple of your shipmates riding from Calgary yesterday at freedombikerental.com in Quito. Cant remember names. They said you were going to the forbidden zone. Verdad?

Still the best way to go economically as far as I can tell.

$780 US

Includes 4 nights of lodging, great food, and relaxation in San Blas before transporting to either Cartagena or Panama.

The only additional cost was for alcohol which was very reasonable.

The website says it's now gone to $820 but if you want to jump the Gap by sailing vessel this is by far the biggest one out there and the most comfortable boat making the trip.

You can always work out a deal and become a crew member for a while

**Also this is one of the only boats I know of that can get you and your bike to Cuba too

Another thumbs up for the Stahlratte

I just had an amazing experience on the Stahlratte and am going back on board tomorrow to help with some maintenance. Lulu (Captain Ludwig) and his crew run an incredible operation and it was definitely one of the highlights of Central America (and there are lots). I still can't figure out how to upload pics to ADVrider so for pics refer to my blog http://motorcyclemenus.com
Also I'm hoping to come back in April and sail up to Cuba. Anyone else interested? There are very few options to ship/ride motorcycles in Cuba (especially for Americans) and talking to some of the people that sailed the Stahratte to Cuba in November it seems like an opportunity of a lifetime. http://www.stahlratte.org/27.0.html
I'd be up for either options, the carribean tour or the alternative to the Yucatan. (good option for riders going home who want to by-pass CA and all it's borders)

cheers to the Stahlratte and her crew...

1 More Vote for the Stahlratte

We were on the Stahlratte in October (http://hasselmann.wordpress.com/2011...he-darien-gap/) and I was an amazing experience, we really enjoyed it and highly recommend. There were 19 bikes strapped to the deck, which was a pretty cool sight in itself. I can't think of a better way to cross the Darien Gap,
