Wow the Sweden Democrats would have a field day with this thread.... how many immigrants/expats are in Sweden

Ok, I reckon we have at least enough for a good weekend . Any takers for a shindig in 2011? If so wanted I would gladly organise something... The local BMW club is fine and all that but Jeez those guys do more more talking than riding.

Just as a thought, anyone interested in doing a trip around Ireland in Summer 2011??? Could be fun...

I'd better sign in here too then.

Living in the south of Sweden and got loads of small twisty gravel roads to play with.

It would be fun to have a ADV meeting in Sweden, maybe then I can find the time to participate again. As long as it's not during this http://www.adventuredays.se/default.asp?lang=en

How long would a trip around Ireland take? How do we get there? It sure sounds like fun but I'm afraid it's gonna be a bit too expensive for me.

Irland 2011

Hej Alla,
For those of you interested in doing the trip, I guess will need to start putting down a solid trip plan!

By my estimate it should take 2 days of riding to get to Ireland, via Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and to Calais (France), England and a ferry to Ireland. Mostly motorway riding of course.

We could then do a tour around Ireland visiting places such as:
1. South Coast from Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Kerry and then Limerick (2 days of easy riding)
2. From Limerick to Clare, Galway going by the coast Roads (1 day)
3. Galway to Donegal by coast roads, quite challanging riding and plenty of opportunities for exploring (1 long day)
4. Donegal to Belfast (lunch in Belfast) and then to Dublin. (1 long interesting day)
5. Dublin to Wexford for the ferry back to England. Arrive in England same day and make our way to Calais on the tunnel.

All in all, you are looking at a 10 day round trip. The cost of it would depend on where you sleep, i.e. hostels or hotels or campsites.

Another approach is that if you want to take a slightly easier ride would be to concentrate on the South and West of country and have shorter days on the saddle and soak up the Irish hospitality etc.. :)

Really I don't mind and would run with what ever the group wants.

Hostels in Ireland costs anywhere from 15-20 euros per night, campsites perhaps about 5-10 per night. 1 liter of petrol is about the same as in Sweden. I need to check the cost of the ferry and the tunnel, but neither is expensive. I guess at a bout 150-200 euros for both combined.

I would budget about 40 euros a day for petrol, 20 for accomodation (camp and hostel), 20-30 for food (depending on how you want to eat)... I guess 100 euros a day would cover it (maximum)...

I will need to do more research for routes, costs and options and will report back.

R.
