Hejsan Killar,
Ok, so did a small bit of investigation and the below route is our 'initial' plan. I am of course open to suggestion :) and if there is anythign specific you want to see in 'Eire' please let me know. One of the highlights is a short trip in County Kerry called the 'Kerry Way'. Some of the BEST scenery you will every see and also lotes of bends, curves and some challanging road riding. This small trip will climax with a trip though the 'Gap of Dunloe' (google it) and bring us firmly to my ancestral home of Killarney where we can camp the night and maybe even have a pint or too. :)

Ok, here come the logistics bit.... The trip from Sweden to Ireland is longer than I had imagined. From where I live in Övik it is a solid 2900 kms to Rosslare habour in Ireland..... Yep, you read right 2900 kms.... That is between 2-3 days of solid riding where we will need to crunch miles and be in the saddle for close to 16 hours a day. We could extend the trip to 14 days which I would highly recommend as this would mean a more leasurely pace from Sweden to Ireland. This would mean a 3-4 trip to Ireland, 5 days in Ireland and 3-4 day trip back with room for extended stays or change of plans if needed.

You can check out a possible route on google maps here:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...97cc513982&z=4

I checked out ferries from Denmark to England but they are too expensive, in the region of €500!!! so by road is the only option with the exception of the Channel Tunnel and the ferry from England to Ireland.

I have to say though that taking our time through Europe sounds appealling as you get to see more. I have done 1000km+ days before and they are manageable so long as you have a good bike set-up and pace yourself. Once we get to Ireland the rides will be shorted distance wise and again we can take our time and to a large extent play our route by ear. I can arrange camping for some places with friends of mine to reduce costs and also arrange campsite, hostels etc... if the numbers are small then I may be able to arrange sofas and beds in some places. For me it would be great to get as many people as possible as group trips are generally best fun :)

THoughts, comments, feedback all welcome :)

EDIT: total trip length is roughly 7500kms in two weeks...
EDIT 2: I wil have to get a divorce if the trip goes more than 2 weeks.... so that is my limit

Sounds great! And well Övik, that's quite a way ;)

But where are you planning on staying the first night?

'Cause I live in Uppsala, so I figured I could hop along on Day 2??

Yeah, i guess for me it is a 14 day trip and for anyone further south a 12 day trip... Thats what i get for living in the North Pole...

If you get that Super Ten. you'd be well set up for the trip.. Nice bike..... Mmmmmm

Extending the trip to 14 days sounds like a good idea to make the trip more enjoyable.

The only problem I've had with too many hours in the saddle is that my knees start to hurt really bad. But now I have mounted handlebar risers so that it's more comfortable to stand up and drive so it should hopefully not be a big problem.

The trip through Sweden will as you said be pretty long for you and me and unfortunately the fastest roads are very boring for bike riding. But the faster we get through Sweden the more time we'll have for the fun parts of the trip!

Exactly ;) Gogo e4, totally sucks for enjoyment, but good for distance-travelling! And yes, I totally have to get a Super Ten by spring!!

Tjena!
Man kanske skulle sluta sig till skaran! Bor i Malmö och kör en Super Ténéré 750. En tripp till Ireland skulle sitta som en smäck nästa sommar!
