If it's the one on blocket that you're gonna buy then it's been repainted.

You can see that it's not an original color scheme and that it's missing the Super Tenere and 750 decals on the sides.

It looks good though so nothing negative about that if it's been professionally done.

kul med lite svenskar!

Jag bor i Stockholm och kör BMW 650 dakar med lite Touratech mods.

Brukar hålla mig på grusvägarna runt stockholm men ska försöka ta mig till Adventuredays i år...

Yep, looks like a group trip to Ireland is off the cards Although with my current work-travel schedule it may be hard tio get a full 2 weeks to do it this year.

I may be interested in the Murmansk, Nordkapp, Lofoton trip though. I did a route from Ovik, Kiruna, Narvik, Lofoton, Bodo two years ago. Quite enjoyable. I have some work mates that traval to Russia on a regular basis. I will ask what the protocol is for visa entry.

I would however suggest some basic route planning as gas stations that far north tend to be few and far between in the more 'rustic' areas

ps I would estimate that route to be cirka 4000 kms.

It would be really fun if you tagged along!

I made a simple route plan in google maps which unfortunately doesn't work in Russia.

http://maps.google.se/maps/ms?ie=UTF...5,2.469177&z=9

The plan is to drive straight east from the border crossing in Salla till I get on the M-18 to Murmansk. I plan to spend (the only) night in Russia on this hotel http://www.russlandia.ru/ in Murmansk and check out the Russian nightlife.

I can drive around 400km on one fill up, do you still think that I should be worried about gas stations?

Hi Jochen,
Just checked and you need 'confirmation' from the hotel, i.e. reservation details etc.. when you submit your visa application to the embassy in Stockholm.

"If Individual Travel: Confirmation of hotel arrangements from authorized Russian travel company, or directly from the Russian hotel, showing reference number and confirmation number for the visa."

With regards to fuel stops, I wouldn't be too concerned to be honest, it was just an observation. I almost got caught out twice in one day coming back from Bodo in Norway to Örnsköldsvik on a Sunday as many petrol stations were closed. The first time I had to find the garage owner and get him to open up for me! Many were just small two pump stations with no automatic credit card facility as I was not travelling on main roads. I don't get 400kms from my bike when I carry a load, a full 20 liter tank will get me around 350kms depending on the road and speed etc.

Another thing to note is that it is difficult to make good distance each day in Norway. I found that maybe 400kms per day is about normal but between small (but fun) roads and heavy traffic during the summer (camping vans everywhere!!) it can be a little hard. The other thing to watch out for are ferries, they tend to add on several hours each day of just waiting around. I avoided them as much as I could on my trip. The ferry service from Lofoten to Bodo is quite long and I found that by riding there I was quicker. It is a nice enough ride with some lovely mountain passes and also through an amazing national park too. The route I chose also included a short (45 minute) ferry ride. There is a road from Bodo that brings you to towards Umeå, the first 300 kms were fantastic, amazing scenery and maybe worth thinking about if you find that you are running out of time to make it all the way towards Trondheim (In Norway the 77 to Sweden the 95, then turn off towards Lycksele and cross the E12, and enter E4 at Nordmaling, about 850kms from Bodo to my door in Övik. I started at 06:00 and arrived at 17:00). The weather along West coast of Norway is unpredictable at best but it didn't bother me (being Irish I am used to it).

If you are interested in meeting up for a ride along the High Coast after the thaw let me know. There are some great routes around Härnosand and Docksta :)
