She gave it a hell of a fight. Even making it to the start is an incredible effort and she really gave the hell on those 4 stages. Thank you Jenny+Piglet for taking us along all that time since this thread started.

Now lay back and do what the doctors tell you!

This is the Dakar and such things can happen to anyone. Pal Anders broke his collarbone and went out in 2005 also, for the record. Just getting this far is a feat in itself. Sure was a good fight and excellent effort. In my view all participants getting to the start line are winners. Finishing is a true challenge. Let's hope for a successfull surgery and good recovery! Hang in there, Jenny!

So sorry for JMo, her leg was just out of an injury, she worked hard to get to the start line, such a shame to come to an end like this. At least she's OK which for Dakar is always the most important...

Very bad news...A great attempt though, hope piglet made it through...

Get well soon... Next year will be better, that's the run of three bad luck incidents over with. The ankle, head and now this!

This is really terrible news. Jen I hope you are okay, girl.

There are a whole bunch of South African supporters who are also gutted with this news here: http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/inde...opic=60803.420

We hereby demand she gets wifi access and a laptop at the hospital so she can debrief us and read our salutations for a stellar performance. ASAP
I know that piece of tech saved my wits at the hospital after my knee surgery in 2009. In my case that made me forget the crappy hospital food, postoperative symptoms and the battered pride after a crash

If the news is as predicted, then that's really sad. Get well soon and do it again next year.
Hang loose

This is really tough news and I am sitting here feeling totally gutted for Jenny and the team behind her.

I got involved with Jenny and my bike shop provided a small amount of support for her quite late in the day as she was finishing her Dakar preparations. We only spoke a few times on the phone but from following the reports here and on her facebook page I feel I have got to know her pretty well ! And I suspect a good few other people feel the same way.

Jenny - you fought an amazing fight and did yourself proud. I feel honoured and privileged to have been involved with your efforts and wish you the very best for a swift and full recovery.

Only time will tell on what you decide to do in future. But if you feel you have unfinished business on the Dakar you know where to get hold of me (but don't leave it until the last minute and you might need to paint the bike orange )

Huge thanks to you (and Piglet) for taking us along with you on the roller coaster ride that your adventure this year has been.

Owen

What rotten news! Get well soon Jenny. Look forward to hearing (reading) your take on the whole experience, from start to untimely
finish.

Hope to be following your attempt next year.
