Just see how well Charley Boorman came out of the 2006 Dakar after crashing. In fact, I wouldn't mind attending a rider course in Wales with Jenny and Si Pavey as instructors.

Just phoned the ward. Spoke to a nice lady. Jenny is still in theatre. She should be out in the next two hours. I will phone again and let you all know the results. Unfortunately my Internet has gone down tonight. The modem has broken. ( tonight of all nights !!!!) but I have iPhone so should be able to update you all.
My Internet should be back up in 48 hours.

I have a direct line to her room. She is not back yet.
Her family also have her direct number so she will be sick of hearing from us in the uk.
If you guys want to send flowers or a piglet toy I know she would be really pleased.

Having spent too long in hospital after a big off on the bike I can tell you that any surgery is traumatic. I dread to think what it is like in a foreign country without friends and family around.

I've had to do the away from home hospital repair before and it's absolutely horrifying to be alone and in pain.

I've been thinking about that all day. That would scare the crap out of me to begin with, compounded by the language barrier.

This is one respect where she and the other rally participants are probably MUCH better off in SA vs Africa. Still scary.
