Pat, great shots.

From your pictures, James Bay Road looks like a hauling-ass-route, deceptively easy to get crazy with speed. I hope that was not your undoing.

Hey Jim! Very good to meet you at Iron Horse. My big ride next year is probably gonna be to complete the TAT from Colorado on to the coast. Unfortunately I don't have the resources or time to do more than that. Like Pat said someday I will have all the time I want.

hehehe! I'm a slacker Pat. It always seems like a good idea but I never get around to it. I admire those who do invest the time to entertain the rest of us.

Day 6 - Part 2

Ok folks, we are back for the 2nd half of Day 6...

Last seen, we were heading south on the James Bay road towards the Rupert River. Oh yes, there is Jim up ahead now...

The bodies of water we passed on this trip were very rustic, and very picturesque

The day has remained very clear and sunny, nice riding day for sure.

Jim just cruising down the the James Bay Road

Here we are back at the North Road (just up ahead on the left)

Here is yours truly, crossing a waterway....

Yours truly approaching another curve....

Up ahead is the bridge over the Rupert River!

Here is a shot from the bridge....

and looking the other direction (downstream)

I parked in the lot by the river and visitor area.

Jim pulling in behind me....

What follows is some pictures of the Rupert. I never saw it before so I was still somewhat impressed, though I understand it is a mere shell of what it used to be. Still worth seeing though in my book.

After our break at the Rupert, we headed back out on the road... its only about 50 km more to the "maybe fuel stop"

200 km to Matagami and the end of the James Bay Road. It was right after here that we found a little fuel station with 2 pumps. In talking to the attendant, it was a "temp" unit and they would evaluate whether they would leave it or not. It was currently designed to service some construction vehicles/workers in the area.

Nice little beaver dam, not very far off of the road.

100 km to Matagami, the end of The Road. We only have about 20 more km before we stop and set up camp.

We have arrived.. setting up camp...

After setting up, took a ride down the road to the lake behind the camp area.

Pretty little lake, boat dock and very calm.

When I got back up to camp, a fellow that i helped with some directions stopped by with some fresh fish he had just fried up. After that, it was time to settle in. The bugs were pretty bad. It was a clear night, so I left the rain fly off and enjoyed gazing at the stars from my sleeping bag.
So ends Day 6. We arrived at the camp about 4:30. The weather was great today, the scenery was excellent and we made some miles!

Next up Day 7 We head south on the James Bay Road to Matagami... Then to Amos where Jim and I split up.

Day 6 Stats
Total Time 8h 23m
Moving Time 6h 33m
Total Miles 335
Moving Ave 51 mph
OA Ave 40 mph
Max Speed 77
