Pat - I'm a bit late to the party but I'm glad that you wrote a report. Quite an ending, sir! You really made it an adventure. Glad you're okay and healing well. I must say that this report is making me think I need to head to James Bay on the Ural at some point...

Hi Matt, late to the party is always better than missing it entirely! Hope you and Kristen are well. If you ever decide to do James Bay on a Ural, holler, maybe I will meet you up that way!!

BTW, one of my daughters is moving to S.A. next month...

we're talking about where to go in the future...an east coast trip sounds pretty enticing. we'll see. i'll definitely let you know if we're ever up your way.
that's pretty cool that your daughter is coming to SA. it's a good place to live. now you'll have a good reason to visit central texas...lots of uralists down here!

SPOT and the GARMIN

This will pretty much wrap up the ride report except for comments and questions from those who follow along... I will likely pop back in here after my visit with the Orthopod Doc on Tuesday with an update. I also have what I hope is the last visit to my primary Doc on Oct 7th...

For those interested... I have attached the Garmin Mapsource file to this post. Look down near the bottom and you can download if you are inclined?

I also want to share the SPOT tracking map. This will show all the locations and times etc as we traveled. As I stated before, I recommend the SPOT and also the FREE Spotwalla map/tracking/trip software by Jason Jonas.

You have many options with Spotwalla, one being to actually embed a map in a blog, website or forum.

For a full size map see http://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=6355
or go right to Spotwalla (link in lower right of embedded map.)

Last today, I have my DR home now... Here are a couple quick pics after I rode it home today. (I removed the trunk before the photo's) It has a trunk, Corbin Seat, Vapor Trail Computer, Happy Trail panniers and IMS 4.9Gal fuel tank.

Ok folks, that is about it for now... I hope that you have enjoyed the report, maybe even have an itching to explore the James Bay area and the North Road. If there are questions, I will surely try and answer them, in the meantime.. Ride Safe out there and hope to catch some of you out on the back roads....

Medical Update:

Went to the orthopedic Doc today... Xrays show no bone issues with the shoulder (other than arthritis which I knew)

There are no tears in the rotor cuff... Appears that I have some strained muscles and it will just take time.. she said shoulders can take a longgggg timeeeee to heal...

We discussed what I was doing for therapy and she added a couple things that may help going forward...

At this point, all is on schedule, just taking longer than I want...

Thanks for all the support.....

Wow Rock,

I'm glad you're ok and the prognosis is good!
Great RR and pic's.

There's probably not one FF on this board that hasn't at some time or other glanced back up at the road all of a sudden and said "F&%$, how long was I not paying attention!?". So, don't beat yourself up over it...

Really glad you were heading home instead of heading out!
Another big vote for Spot. Had mine since July...

Good Luck!

Lance, glad that you enjoyed teh RR and pics.. I was glad that I washeading home too, I at least got to do and see what I wanted!!

I am not beating myself up too much.. I just hope by dwelling on it somewhat in the report that maybe another rider will not make the same mistake... Thats what wakes us up sometimes, seeing another make a mistake and learning from it..

Very Cool RR Pat! Sorry about your get-off, but from listening to you on Tuesday nights, it sounds like you're healing up just fine. Can't wait to see what you get up to next...

Craig, Thanks for the kind words... Glad that you seem to be enjoying the show too. I have healed quite well with only a lingering shoulder issue that I expect will get better as we get back on the road. (It is an arthritic issue)

I am planning to do some New Brunswick and Maine this year...

I liked your RR, noted with a chuckle, your assessment of US Coffee!!
