Does size matter? (DrZ's vs. KLR's: The CO/UT Trip)
I have been asked to start a thread and share items sent to me from our four ADVenturesome friends that departed Mississippi for parts west this afternoon...

Thanks BW.
We were supposed to leave about noon but by the time everyone met up and got the bikes loaded it was 4:30. We are driving straight through to Silverton, CO tonight. We should be there by mid afternoon tomorrow. We are planning not to plan but we anticipate spending a few days riding a lot of the mountain passes in the area, camping and just having a good time. Then we will leave CO and head to Moab, UT for a couple of days. We will post here when we can to give updates. If you want to follow us on SPOT tracker, here is the link. http://share.findmespot.com/shared/f...2cWAYBXC7MIEnz

How I wish I could have gone along.
Did Daniel have air in his tire this morning? We were having technical difficulties with it last night. (That's code for, "I pinched the tube.") ![]() Hope you're not planning to go here http://www.nps.gov/cany/news082410.htm

His tire was flat when he got home. He had to get another tube this morning. We were planning to run the WRT. We will still probably run part of it. Anti, The GS is going to hang out in New Mexico for a few weeks.

DRZ's vs KLR? Kinda depends. I can ride a KLR 500 miles in a mountain day (mostly paved). I just can't ride it every place they can ride their DRZ's (or at least I can't ride it very fast where they can ride their bikes). It's a trade off.
Tell us how it works out. Y'all are gonna have a ball. I'm green with envy. Maybe next year I can get back out there.

We are in New Mexico and just stopped for breakfast. Denny's here sucks but we're not here for the food. The land is fairly flat and open. It's cool to see the geography even from miles away. We are heading to meet another ADR'ers home in New Mexico. He graciously offered to store the GS for a few weeks. I plan to fly back out with the wife next month for a second week of vacation. Oh yeah, did I Mention, "WE'RE IN NEW MEXICO!!!!" Now that the sun is coming up and we can see the terrain, the trip is starting to sink in.

Been following y'all on the the SPOT. As much as I would have like to have gone on the ride, I'm sure glad I didn't have to make that drive . I don't have some peoples ability to just go to sleep in any position at any time.

Well we made it here about 4:30 today. We went and looked around the town, Ate pizza for supper, and started figuring out how to pack the bikes. I have determined it is impossible to pack light. All I have on my bike is a few tools, Camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, pad), a few freeze dried meals, some water for cooking, some water for drinking, and a change of clothes. That weight has completely changed the manners of the bike.
On a side note, my fractured ankle did not like being in a truck for 24 hours. Its the size of a softball tonight. Hopefully the swelling will go down enough to get my boot on in the morning.

When I pack light I bring my visa card.

Just checked the SPOT and see y'all are up and moving. Oh, and you suck
!Hoe the ankle is holding together David. I can't say that I would have made the trip if I was in your condition, but some people have bigger balls than others. Didn't you used to wrestle alligators or bulls or something?
