XT660z Tenéré

This is a great bike! I rode it to death all over West Africa.... Until the 3rd set of rings, then found an XT600...

I wrote to Yamaha and got a call. Pled my case for the xt660z but it was really just a courtesy call. Didn't sound like there was any interest at all. I got ... Go buy the super tenere. But I did try. -FB

that's been the same story all along. doubt it will ever happen. Yamaha probably can't bring it in for the right low price either.
i'm betting they produce a 800cc class ADV bike with their new triple engine and that will compete in the US.

the Japanese are not investing in the 650 thumper class these days. Suzuki and Kawasaki will just keeping selling what they have as they can keep making carb bikes as they are low sales numbers and their EPA numbers are spread across the whole line so older carb models can existing with newer clean FI models that sell alot more.

as much as many of on ADV think that 650 dual-sports are the ultimate bikes for the US, the #s (even though increasing a small amount) show it's a small niche market. the Japanese just don't respond to that in the US. they'll compete in the large ADV market however.

I signed it but it say 693 not a big number if this is to convince Yamaha..
I also noticed how the old 1990's Triumph Tiger 900 looked like the older Tenere.

I love my Super Tenere just would like to see a choice and not HD clones and ATV's..

Yamaha just killed the Super Tenere for 2014...we begged them for this one and they delivered only to have the model fail to sell well enough to justify it.

No way they do the same thing with the 660...once burned...

I don't see where Yamaha killed the Super Tenere. It is available in all the normal markets. They simply have not built an updated model for 2014. No brave new graphics. They could be just hitting pause while developing a new CP2 or CP3 adventure bike.

Dear Santa,

We've tried to be good. Really. Please talk to someone at Yamaha and I promise I'll be even better next year.

Thank you.

Santa Delivered

For three years, I've had nothing under the Christmas tree, so in 2013, I changed my request to the big guy and he delivered.

Apparently his elves have a good relationship with Honda Powersports.

Though the 500XA isn't an XT660, it is far more entertaining than having a picture and a dream of owning an XT660.

Sorry Yamaha!

And I wish all the other American wanna-be XT660Z owners best of luck and adieu!
