I'd buy a pair right now. One for the wife & one for me.

Or better still an XT660X.

Contacting Canada is also a good idea, didn't they sell the MT01 over here? That was made in Europe too.
That was the response that I got from the Canadian rep Scott Harrison Scott_Harrison@yamaha-motor.ca. I was trying to get a letter from Yamaha stating that the bike was built to Canadian standards then I could have one shipped, plated and adventure ready.

Every time I see a Yamaha rep I bug them about getting a Tenere. Maybe I'll try again....Yamaha Customer Relations - YamahaCustomerRelations@yamaha-motor.ca

I too would purchase this bike if it were available, petition signed. Actually, what pisses me off isn't the fact that the bike isn't available in N. America, but the fact that my gov't will not allow me to register it in Canada. I believe the same holds true in the US. Fuckers!

Umm.......sorry to burst your bubble, it's been posted on the "beast" forums for a couple of weeks now, with a few thousand hits. Anyway, that's what's prompted everyones recent hopes that the XT660 might have a chance. Thanks for the info anyway!!

SWEET!!!!!!

I called Yamaha corporate a few days ago and didn't get much except that all "real" announcements aren't going to happen until November at the big bike shows. He said the S10 was a surprise to them too, it being announced so soon. He just couldn't and didn't know about little10.

I'm still crossing my fingers! I still think it would be a sweet bike, especially if they do bring it with selectable ABS as someone else has stated they're adding to it for next year.....PERFECT!!

I'd be more inclined to buy a tenere if they had more modern hardware on a package that looked a bit more old school.

Has anyone bought one in Europe or OZ and brougt it to the US?

I just spoke with a "product specialist" at Yamaha USA. He told me that the more calls they get about it the more likely they are to bring them in for us. He's gotten some other calls apparently but he has no idea how many calls are needed to try a "test run." He explained that the test run would be similar to the Super Tenere idea that if you want one, they'll take orders with a $500 deposit and only bring in the number ordered.

So if anyone is truly interested, or just wants to help get another sweet bike on the streets and trails of the US; call and tell them you think it should be available. The number is below, don't be shy! Tell them you want the XT660Z available to the US market!
