Agree 100%... if he has pms, he should definitely get it checked!

Hi ya' thrill seekers!

popped my ugly head in for a lurk-see and look around in the Ozssylum after an ab of leavescence.

I see that slowbike and Peebee are doing the public at large a goodwill service in the name of general safety and distributing DIY tune yourself to a standstill information amongst the BMW-ally afflicted.

I note that the ugly three wheeled head of the sidecar syndrome has raised itself on the forum once again... Leaving only the one logical answer to ockrocket's open ended question as being, "why on god's earth would you...?" And to add insult to injustice, the presumed ill-leagilties and dubious engineering principles of bolting an MTB trailer on the rear of ones overloaded steed, have jumped on board (again), for those of us that believe two wheels are just not enough... but don't just yet want to go the full cage incarceration route.

700rr is pushing the "you need one of these" wagon, for the greatest bike never made by KTM (but should have/could have about 7 years ago if they were awake) and Fogdo and Jr ever closer to the threshold of producing the ultimate retro-green version of a similar solution to the same problem 20 years after it's creators breathed life in the green peril.

Meanwhile, the XR owners are still in the corner wearing their "better red than dead" t-shirts; denying the existence of things like electric start, fuel injection and laughing at the DR 650 riders on their 20 year old design - new model bikes...

Joff asked what the best bike for his son is (surprise surprise... almost everyone answered that the bike they own - was the obvious best choice ). At the ame time, the simultaneous search for Australia's best (non-supported) 4WD support vehicle and driver, was set in motion on both sides of the continent - the Simpson and CSR - at almost the same instant (entirely coincidental and un-supported of course... )

Blokes all over the countryside have ridden or are contemplating riding... somewhere else than where they usually ride, and looking for expressions of interest or words of advice on how/why and where not to, if in fact it is deemed so that somewhere else is more of an adventure than where someone else has considered just passé?

And finally the sub-continental sub-chapter of the Dakar-ista Society for the Geographically Compromised are eagerly looking forward to the New South Welsh get together in Condobolin known as the Condo 750... in order to get their annual fix of high velocity paddock orienteering

So... what'd I miss...?

When you wrote "electric bikes", I thought you meant something along the lines of this; but then I realized you were referring to the ECU thingys...

Electric bikes are on their way though...

I had a chance to ride a couple of different models of the Quantya and ZERO brand electric mx/enduro bikes two winters back... They were still (in my mind) a bit MTB like in the dimension/handling/suspension way of things and the limited battery life means they are probably still only viable as multiple lap enduro/mx/playracing type mounts... not really viable extended time trailriding... but good fun and suprisingly torquey/flickable.

took a while to get used to the abscence of engine noise and linear/automatic feel of the engine response... but after a while, I found myself daydreaming about how brilliant it would be, to be able to ride around many places in "stealth mode". I even considered the idea of a stable of them for the guided tour business. support vehichle with a rack full of chargers and spare batteries... just meet up every hour for drink break/battery swap.

That's when it hit me... I can see a lot of these bikes making an impact on places - where up to now - MTB's have been de rigeur. Just because it's silent, does not necissarily mean the "powers that be" think it is ok?

Anyway... yeah, there is snow here now. have not been on the bike since the first week in January... but not because of the snow... too much work and family things on.

Next weekend it's enduro/cross with spiked tyres in the snow again though!

Björn tearing up the slushies last time out.
