'Low risk' asylum seekers for Northam :lol3:lol3

1500 single men, you got to be fucking joking.

The WA Premier has raised concerns about the Federal Government's decision to house asylum seekers in Northam after more rioting at the Christmas Island detention centre last night.

Colin Barnett says housing 1500 single men in Northam is a 'recipe for trouble'.

He says the Federal Government must work more closely with the State and the local community to ensure the safety of Northam residents.

"It does show that desperate people will do desperate things," he said.

"I just wish the Commonwealth would be a little more open. In a practical sense we would cooperate and we will cooperate with the Commonwealth to make sure whatever is done at Northam is done as well as it can be and is as safe and secure as it can be."

Meanwhile Northam Shire President, Steve Pollard, says the Immigration Department has assured the community there will be a selective approach to housing asylum seekers in the town's new detention centre.

The facility is expected to be open in the next few months.

in my various stints at uni i actually did study accounting/commerce at one stage along with mining engineering at another, then computer engineering and finally obtained an IT degree with a double maths major in discrete mathematics... and later i went on to do most of the mba before i finally grew up and worked out, mainly due to my predilection for telling people just how wrong they are, that i was never meant to be a corporate player.

discrete mathematics is sort of the study of the mathematics used in computer hardware and software.

if you want some fun as an IT beginner, try programming using artificial intelligence

you would, no doubt, be surprised to hear that in my second last corporate role my peers awarded me the figjam award which i hugely considered a badge of honour given it was awarded by the (mainly) public service career people i was working alongside as a contractor.

in my last corporate role they turfed me after i bluntly told them they had totally lost touch with their customers. i reached this conclusion after about 4 weeks in the job when three of the directors (out of a total of 5) pulled me in to a meeting and asked me to spy on the IT department so they could bury the It department to the minister. (i was hired in this role to liaise between the IT department and their two largest internal customers, yes it was another govt contracting role)

these days i just subscribe to the far simpler maxim that if i dont want to do business with you i will simply tell you to go to hell.

my theory is you cannot please everybody therefore you get to choose who you please. and by extension, if you piss me off once its your fault, if you piss me off twice it is my fault.

naturally, as for you lot

now, where was that whistling icon?

i would've settled for the rounding of partial cents of interest through one of the major banks.

i did hear the fella who introduced a major credit card or something very related to it into to australia has something to do with a rather large boat in the carribean, reputedly he makes less than a cent per transaction as the license holder...

i dont think anyone has seen him locally for quite some time

re my second last corporate role.

having worked inside a major electricity utility i am less than surprised to hear/read/observe our energy costs are spiralling out of control - what does surprise me is that it has taken so long to do so.

the waste is unbelievable, i'd reckon about 2c in their dollar might have actually gone to actually providing anything useful to a customer.

but then i'd guess most govt departments are like that (as are the charity organisations that i have been able to examine closely enough).
