Definately do not use the Safeway in Horsham, had to change my oil filter at Ballarat coz of the sludge they sell there'

Other than the bike and the old series 3 Landy, everything we have is diesel, probably because I'm a diesel mech. I find that Shell and BP are my preferred suppliers as they offer good tech support (which most of you wouldn't worry about). I don't get fuel from "supermarket servos" and where possible I try to avoid the independants and 7/11 due to water and other fuel issues.

Just my 2c

I have been a diesel car user for 10 + years now , things change , but currently the BP and Shell Diesel fuel is significantly better for clean running , power and economy here in Newcastle . Caltex , Mobil and the independants are a bit hit and miss , you get one good tank of fuel and the next is a dud for power , economy and clean running . I avoid like the plague any servo that claims to have bio diesel as it makes my 2.5 L turbo ( ford badged Mazda ) run like a dog .

Cheers Alan

Thanks for the feedback. The concensus seems to be BP & Shell, so I'll run with BP as Ultimate has always been my preferred petrol.

I'm lucky to have all four majors within 5 minutes of my place & with the diesel now only need to fill up every three or four weeks. The economy is amazing compared with a petrol car and I love the driving characteristics.

Regards,
Rus

Regardless of brand, and shell and bp are my proffered option, ensure that filters are changed regularly, especially if it's late model common rail diesel. Not sure what vehicle you have but cleanliness is the key in all late model common rails. Correct fuel, correct oil and continually keeping air intakes clean will keep it in the best shape.

I want to buy a small tank from German eBay, but the seller doesn't seem keen to send it to Au...

Just thought I'd have a whine about it here because my wife looks disinterested...
