I just sold a forester xs - good car - easy to live with .

Thanks mate. That makes sense and your suggested tactic is pretty much
exactly what I did today. As it happens the best deal was also one of the closest. My wife picks up her new car next week sometime.

I've got a '96 Impreza, pushing 290,000Km, going strong and still on the original clutch, I think. Wouldn't mind a forester, but don't like the new ones.

David,

As a professional operator, what would you expect to get out of that clutch ?

I bought the car at 187,000Km and there was no mention of a new clutch in the paperwork I got. Not sure how much longer it will go as it feels a bit iffy sometimes, and I do nurse it a fair bit.

My previous car was a Hyundai Excel panel van, bought new in '93 and only driven by me. I drove that car to the crusher at 243,000 Km still with the original clutch in it. It was the only part of the car that wasn't totally stuffed.

I reckon. It needs a lot of mechanical sympathy to safely operate a crane, and that obviously influences your driving.

Couldn't afford a 'GSA', so now it's an 'XSA' "I didn't do it! & whoever said I did, is a liar!"
