RTV ford ute with an extra leaf spring carries a ton easy. Bench seat licenced to carry 3, goes like a cat with a cap up it's arse. And will do 500,000k easy, i've got 3 of them and can't find anything better for dollar value. Why did Ford stop making them? Because no one get's rid of them, honest John!

Any vehicles GVM includes passengers, fuel luggage etc. always has. I've got a 2010 manual BT50 and can't fault it, but if I was carrying a lot of heavy loads or towing heavy loads regularly i'd buy an auto and not a manual.

I know of a nice tidy 2004 i think it is GU DX ute, 4.2L TDI coil front leaf rear, trayback with canopy, pretty tidy bit of gear, 1 of my customers just bought a new BT50, he's after $25k for it. or dual cab 100 series, was a wagon chopped into a ute, had 900mm chassis extension, tray back with canopy etc $32k, but it's a 6 cylinder petrol. Both in Hervey Bay.

got a ford ranger at work, hasnt hit 10,000km and its already had, water trap in fuel line drained countless times, fuel tank removed and drained 3 times, entire fuel injection fuel pump replaced, twice now, which is up to 18,000 bucks each. it runs like a POS and im glad i dont own it. Seems very sentitive to water condensation in the tank. the fuel station we use, has given us a few official testing of there diesel tanks saying there is no water in it.

but i got my archery gear out today and cleaning them up, old stuff. but my old classic has some white oxidization on the aluminium painted camo riser, any ideas how to remove it with out sanding the paint off?

xtra cab colorado, dmax, ranger with a full sized heavy steel tray
need to carry cows and ton bags which rules out dual cabs and the single cabs only have 2 seats which is no good for the family

had a quick look at the colorado xtra cab on the way home and the rear suicide doors are awesome!, but shit the front end is ugly, 44 grand with bulbar, tow bar,and heavy duty full size steel tray
Dmax is the same setup as the Colorado but has the 'proven'(read old model)
engine& gearbox .It looks are a whole heap better.
I think all 4cyl turbo utes take some stoking to get moving ,especially loaded on hills, therefore clutches are abused,,,any hills at your place ,,,,consider auto trans
I think most new stuff will legally carry a ton on the tray but they will need the springs upgrading to stop the arse dragging.
Is the tray on the xtra cab big enough,,,hoow big is the passenger, whats the utes age/weight limit on the rear seat passenger?
The GU Nissan sounds good but would be buckets i guess.
If your old ute is sound condition other than donk ,fix it ,BUT if its tired & not overly well looked after it will probable be a money pit.
Recoed motors never seem to last as well as new ones.

If you are going to drop 44k on a new Xtra cab ,surely thers some good cruisers out there in that bracket .
Ring Toowoomba 4wd mart ,,they specialise in Tojo utes I think.(I have no idea whether they are any good Though)

I feel your pain ,Ute shopping starts out fun& ends up a real headF***
Good Luck,Ray

Dont know if nissan offers what you want, but 1% finance at the moment. Talked to a salesman on the weekend, 1% for first 3 years, then 2% for 4th year, and I think 4% for 5th year, but may have been 3% for 5th year.

I been looking at the v6 diesel navara for towing the boat. Pretty fuggin expensive though. Not sure if its worth it yet.
