Thanks for any help.
Dunno if the youngster's into animals, but the Healesville sanctury's usually popular with visitors - bit of a hike though. More accesible is the Melbourne zoo - it's a 20-min tram-ride from the city.
Across the river from where you're staying - literally a 5-min walk - is the Aquarium - it's pretty good, and if you've a platinum card you can go diving in the tank; from there to Melbourne Gaol is five mins on the tram (there's a few free 'City Circle' historic tourist trams that run a square route around the city) - and a quick walk on to 'Little Italy' in Lygon Street, or Chinatown.
The Museum's not bad (has an Imax, which kids generally love) and the Old Exhibition building is right next door - it's where Federation was signed in 1901; it's impressive because of its scale, architecture and magnificent painted ceilings & domes inside.
A ten-minute walk from that is the oldest building in the entire country: Capt Cook's cottage, bought out here brick by brick and reassembled in Fitzroy gardens; ten minutes from that is the MCG, if you're into cricket or that other game with the drug-cheats....
Next to that is Rod Laver arena; might be worth checking if there are any live shows or concerts on while you're here!
Elizabath St for bike shops - though the really big new Peter Stevens superstore is in Ringwood - on the way to Healesville.
there's also loads of laneways with cafes, bistros, book, music & clothes shops in the CBD.
If you'd like to catch a Social disease, head to Ackland St in St Kilda, where your rent-a-friend might be of either gender; interestingly, there are also a lot of bloody good cake-shops there!
If Asian food's your bag, the authentic places are mostly along Victoria St Richmond, but you'll probably find something closer.
From where you're staying (Casino, Southbank) you can walk to the Art Museum, across the river to the clocks of Flinders Street station and to the world's most expensive unfinished building Federation Square - which has nothing to do with Federation, and isn't square.
Afetr all your drinking, across the road is the Cathedral, convenient for repenting; it's on the corner of Swanston Street, which is a pedestrian precinct of sleezy tourist traps, R-rated book shops and Melbourne Town Hall (same thing really...); if you are Caucasian, you'll probably feel quite lonely in Swanston street.....

Now, after lunch....

Yeah, like traffic jams... you could go Kings Cross and get beaten up, any western suburb and enjoy a drive-by shooting, or go to Liverpool Street and play "Spot the Straight"....

on another thread there was talk of quorn S.A.
so was wondering what ever happened to the WORLDS END RALLY that was held there as i did a few back then when it was going doing the ride over from Wollongong for a weekend lol

all i could find was this
END OF WORLDS END Dear Sir, I write this letter to inform the MRA (SA) that the "Worlds End Rally" at Warrens Gorge in Quorn, organised by the Motorcycle Touring Club and the Worlds End Rally Organisers Inc. will no longer be held.
Due to a lack of funds and the ever changing landscape of the Warrens Gorge where the creek water has been rising every year, has made the tracks in and out unsafe for bikes. Therefore, we cannot hold our rally at this site any more.
Over the years we have appreciated your support and would like to thank everyone who has attended the rally.
If anyone requires past badges for replacement, please ring Rayon (08) 8377 1163 as those left will be destroyed.
Ray D'Iorio Secretary MTC SA, WERO

in a old what looks like a magazine called CENTRESTAND[in a pdf form]

WILL THIS RALLY EVER GET REVIVED from some of the riders over that way in the future or is the creek still to high

Thanks for your help guy's.

Pretty sure the wife wont want me near any bike shops Phil, but would be keen for a look that's for sure.

Hi Chris, hmmmm, perfect timing as always, but its the only free time we can get away, and I struggle with a standard credit card let alone a gold one?

Thanks for all your info Precis, much appreciated.

Been back to Sydney quiet a few times Ducky, but the wife wants to check out why all the people from Melbourne keep moving to Qld.
