Phil do you need a 12volt source with a voltage reducer to charge your battery? What is the battery voltage?

This is easier. Then just use your 240 volt charger.

I have one of these to use on the bike. Had it for years .It charges my Scalar rider camera music thingo and anything else I need to have 240volts for. Saves having heaps of extra chargers.

A lot of bannings happen with no evidence of what they did being left behind.

I used to see someone was banned (you included), have a look at there profile and look at there last few posts.

On a lot of people you don't even see anything that was remotely offensive.

It often makes me wonder if the offending posts get banished from the internet, or they were being dicks in PMs to mods.

Not saying they did or didn't deserve it, just an observation....

Get a decent one. Mine is OK but it did over heat and I had to vent the case but it works fine now. Don't run your TV off the crapy ones or you will need to buy a new one.

12V in Phil then just plug in your 240volt charger.

Does anyone know if the wiring diagram has any correlation with the way wires go into plugs?

For example, if we had a six pin plug in a two rows of three pins arrangement, and the wiring diagram has it as a box with six wires coming into it, do the usually have the wires marked in a pastern, like reading from left to right, the first is the lower left on the plug, 2nd top left, third middle bottom etc, or is there no set pattern?

I'm trying to wire in a CDI but don't have the plug...

The short answer is yes.
The wiring diagram will have the wires in order 1-6.
The plug should have the pins labelled.
If not then you will need a plug layout diagram which should be with a wiring diagram.
A wiring diagram is different to a circuit diagram. BTW.

Question for the tech heads

We're looking around for a multi-function colour printer/scanner/copier for home use. Networkable(?), capable of scanning slides/negatives, individual ink cartridges, read direct from cards/usb stick etc etc. There's a squillion of 'em around - anyone got any experience with them?

Might have to narrow it down a little! What size paper, do you need A3? Do you need colour printing or just colour scanning? Inkjet or laser?

We use a little HP @ home with a wireless setup so I can print wirelessly across the my network (I tend not to use a print server or any other network devices - saves setting up a print server etc etc!)

Its great I can set it up so that I can print from either PC in the house - and then if I need to remote print I just dial into my machine via VPN and print from there

I would spend a bomb on the printer just make sure the cartridges wont send you broke as that seems to be the big issue (I am too tight and have removed the printer use from the kids )

!

HP, Cannon and Brother are all usually pretty good. I also prefer HP but that's just personal preference, they' all have good and bad models. As Lentil mentioned, spend more on the printer if you can spend less on the ink/toner. You will come out ahead pretty quickly. If you only rarely print anything, get a laser printer. Ink dries in the print heads if left long enough and can cost you a new printer if it gets bad enough while toner is good to go almost forever if it stays dry.
