After the first two weeks at sea it not an adventure, it's just a job. (MM1 SS)

Another relic at the old Mather Air Force Base outside Sacramento. Some building are still fenced off with big U.S. Government Property signs (must be asbestos everywhere) while others are pretty open.
I rode around a barricade (on the well worn path) to snap the picture, and some soccer mom in a minivan pulled over and called somebody on her cell phone while staring at me.
I left before the men in black showed up.
Yeah, high security facility.

And the highly classified contents------------

One more from Northern Cal, up near the Sutter Buttes and Beale AFB.

When you see a cattle guard made out of railroad rail, could it have been rated for something really heavy?

Like lots of steel & concrete, and TITAN missiles?

As close as I could get to the old abandoned missile silos.

I would love to buy one of these old sites, can you imagine the garage you could make out of it?

Questor went on a guided tour of a privately-owned Atlas site a few years ago... http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277744

Here's a Titan site that has been made into a museum. I visited here on a bike trip in '97. Well worth the out-of-the-way ride. http://www.titanmissilemuseum.org/
