Hey! just answered my own question -- Google street view has made it all the way to Old Forge, NY;

we've got a place in Old Forge -- 355 miles one way -- last two times I rode up there, I arrived wet (and cold) in the dark in August.

thanks for the great report, you guys just added a few more things to my to do list
Google Earth sure comes in handy
Old Forge is a cute little town. Great location!

Thanks for riding along,

Wow, we were very close
We had dinner at Lake Placid Pub just a few days before you! Did you get a UBU? Did you bring back a growler?

No growler and had the Ubu at Nicola's on Main with a very good wood fired pizza the second night. At the pub it was two for Tuesday- two for the price of one. So I sampled a few other selections.

Mmmm, wood fired pizza, thin crust
There's a place in my 'hood called the Bear Brew Pub that brews a nice hoppy IPA and also makes wood fired pizza. If you're ever up this way it's worth checking out.

I need to go back to the Lake Placid Pub. They had a sampler of beer that I kick myself in the butt for not ordering. Next year....

Me too
I spend a fair amount of time on the dirt. There's so much good dirt and trail riding where I live, you can just go for miles and miles. No clueless people in cages talking on cell phones just the occasional appearance by Bullwinkle Really though, I feel much safer in the woods.

Vermont is very pretty! Rolling hills with lots of farms and cows. Huge country stores in every town. I went to one that would have given WalMart a run for the money It had three floors and seemed like half a city block long. Everything from groceries to hardware, clothing, hunting supplies, kitchen appliances, plumbing supplies and furniture

Next year I'm taking more time off

NPR had a story on Yuengling beer this morning

http://www.npr.org/2010/11/12/131274...eyes-expansion

Looks like production is up and they're expanding to Tennessee

The 4 cases I bought really made a difference
