Ride, camp, shoot, pics, climb, hike, repeat...

Labor Day extended weekend and I'm off to Seneca Rocks, WV for some west and wewaxation.

Woaded and weddy to wide....

The morning weather looked promising...

Looking at the map.....

and the road signs.....

one might get the distinct impression that Ohio state route 7 is a scenic route.

It's not.

Unless, that is, one knows where and when to look...

I'll ty not to bore you with too much yappin' and just let the pictures speak for themselves when they can.

Still riding scenic Ohio SR7...

I crossed the Ohio river into St. Marys, WV and then headed north along secondary roads to US route 50.

Good ol' CSX #338 rumbles by...

On US 50 between Bridgeport and Grafton there's a little stopping place that sell gas, goods and food. They also have on display a number of old, rusty farm and construction pieces.

A few more rusty shots then on to the divide...

Behind that sign you can see some of Joe Harper's cattle. He owns a huge farm here and since 2002 he has been generous enough to allow John Markwell and Rod Hanson to host their Allegheny Sniper Challenge (ASC) match here.

The match started with a few friends getting together to test their long-range rifle skills in some of the most challenging terrain and weather east of the Mississippi. It has now grown hair, so to speak, and attracts some very good shooters, venders, smiths and manufacturers.

So much so that all of the equipment for this year's competitors was donated. Approximately 50 shooters on two separate weekends will compete with FNH USA, A5 M SPR rifles equipped with US optics 10X scopes and Brock Markwell slings, shooting .308, 175 grain ammo donated by Cor-Bon.

Here's Ben, of FNHUSA, doing some last minute adjusting on the rifles before the next day's shooting....

A few of the BEASTS....

and one up close......very cool..........

The photos (scenery) got better the farther east I rode.

Pendleton Co. has some of the nicest riding/scenery in the state.

More to come.

Agreed. And thanks for letting me borrow the Cramp Buster. Really made a difference. I'll get it back to you as soon as I can.

Now for the "shooting" section of the ride.

Maggie is always the first one in the truck when there's adventure in the air...

The morning sun was at my back as I rode up the mountain to the divide...

I arrived at the match site before everyone else and just loafed around taking pics....

I see a red VStrom hiding in this pic. Do you?

The shooters, match directors and helpers started rolling in around 8:30

The first order of the day was to get sighted in...
